Bullybeef Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Finally finished my ‘49 Revell Merc today, only deviation from box stock was the addition of a Mercury FE V8. I’ll echo a lot of the past statements, this is a great kit to build. 4
David G. Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 A very tidy build, love the frosty green! Thanks for posting it. =D- 1

Belugawrx Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Built this one some years ago... Never liked the rounded back end so started adding plastic and bondo until.... 6

I'm just curious, what engine is that? =D- 15 hours ago, Belugawrx said: Built this one some years ago... Excellent custom work! Thank you both for taking the time to share these with us. David G. 1
1959 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 (edited) I haven't followed these community topics, but run into link so I decided to share my two builds of AMT Merc. Pink one is build at the age of 16 in the mid 90s. My first top chop and back then I didn't realize that sanding out all the trim around the windows is not a good idea. Paint is own mixture of hardware store universal paint. Engine is 392 Hemi from the 53 Stude kit. I won few prizes with this one. The other one is a glue bomb restoration from my friend's terrible build that I finished this autumn. Very traditional style and it is built pretty much in a style I would build a 1:1 Merc. More about it is in the topic here in under glass section. Edited October 19 by 1959 Added a link and corrected few typos 2

Revell kit is also great, but chopped and somewhat simplified, but I've built that one as well as the cool Woody Wagon from Revell. Here's an old AMT glue bomb that I dis-assembled and re-did. Cheers! That interior looks great!

These are from bent guitar string, tiny round beads from Michael's and small wire insulation. They're not good enough for open cars but in these old coupes, like the '49 Ford (last picture) and '49 Merc, '50 Olds and a few others, they're better than kit door card relief. They go through the holes before any glue, I can position them from outside then super glue them also from outside, then cut off the excess, again from the outside. I brush some Moltow on after. Again, your interior work looks really nice! Edited Thursday at 05:35 PM by Kanada Kustoms

Originally built almost ten year ago "Tang" was an experiment in custom techniques, I used ever mod I knew of to make this one. Sadly, it was partially wrecked while moving in 2016. This is really nice... I love the quad headlights, what did you use? The chop is very nicely done as well!
