Jim B
Here is my take on the Polar Lights 2006 Ford GT Snap-Fit kit. The kit came with paper masks & the pinstripes to do the Gulf livery, but I thought that was kind of silly for a street car. I found photos online of a Mark II black car with white stripes, so that’s what I went with. According to Pinnacle Motor Cars (2006 Ford GT | Pinnacle Motorcars) Ford made 292 Mark II Black cars, and only 182 of them had stripes. Interior Engine: Well, there she is. It has issues, but all in all, I like the results. I do have a question for Polar Lights though. This is the second Polar Lights Snap-Fit kit that I've done (the first one was also molded in light blue plastic, go figure), and is it too much to ask for a snap-fit kit that's actually a snap-fit kit?

espo
I agree with you, this does look better in the black livery instead of the Gulf Oil colors.

Deathgoblin
Excellent job! These are really surprisingly nice kits with a full engine. I want to do another one eventually and open up the engine cover.
Chris in Berwyn
Nice work! Here is a real one at a dealer in Philly back in 2006.
Jim B
Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. @Chris in Berwyn Interesting how they put the car in that tent. I guess they didn't want the riffraff touching that car.
David G.
Nicely done! I built one of these a while back and found it an enjoyable experience. David G.
Jim B
Thanks, David. The only thing I didn't find enjoyable about this build was getting the body to mount properly to the chassis. Kind of important.

The only thing I didn't find enjoyable about this build was getting the body to mount properly to the chassis. Kind of important. Now that you mention it I do remember that part of the build being rather challenging. I do recall test-fitting the chassis and body together early in the build and being concerned that I was doing something incorrectly. And as I disassembled them to continue the build I thought to myself: "Wow, I won't be able to do that too many more times without breaking something!" I think I actually ended up trimming away a bit of the front apron on the chassis to make it work. Mine was cast in light blue to simulate the Gulf livery colors. I decided to challenge myself and build it in the color it was cast. No paint on the body except the stripe and details. I think it worked out pretty well. I actually ended up using a photo of it as my avatar. Cheers, David G.
