Hi there,

I recently completed my first resin/ multimedia kit...

So far I have only used upgrade sets or alternative decals from Studio27 and have always been satisfied with their quality. Unfortunately, this kit is full of shortcomings.

Just a few examples: for whatever reasons the inner diameter of the tires was way too large for the turned metal rims. I was able to help myself with the tires from a Hasegawa Mazda 787, but something like that is not acceptable IMHO...

The rear wing struts made of PE parts had to be mounted to the white metal gearbox housing. The holes provided in the PE parts were all too small and had to be “drilled bigger” with a round key file.

By the way, the gearbox housing was also "bent", so I had to take measures early on in order to a) still have the rear wing reasonably straight towards the end and b) still get the rear axle fit into the gearbox housing... 8o

In general I would say that also the instructions are inadequate and incomplete, if not sometimes wrong. The PE frame is containing the parts for all 3 Eagle Mk. III versions which Studio27 has on sale (as separate kits) and the instructions leave the builder to do a lot of guessing which parts are to be used and where. Similar sitaution for the decals: if I had followed the instructions, my car would have shown false driver's names...

Enough with the complaining, the model was eventually finished and given the problems mentioned above and some mistakes on my part, I'm quite happy with it.

By the way, the body was painted with TS-101 and clear coat from the DIY store on top.

Thomas...congrats on your first resin/multimedia build.  And she's a real beauty.   I probably had about 20 resin kits before I finally tackled one.  They were quite daunting considering the fact that I was a long time plastic builder.  They require a different skill set and mind set.  But you have risen to that challenge. Look forward to your next one.

Congratulations Thomas, you have turned a flawed resin kit into a great replica, it looks fantastic. Resin/multimedia kits are a totally different animal and usually quite challenging but offer us subjects not available from the styrene volume producers. Your perseverance has been rewarded!
