kensar Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Nice progress on this, Pierre. Have you decided on a livery yet?
MarkJ Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Pierre, everything looks perfect. I especially like the primer coat.

I usually try to replicate a specific moment in history (car & race) but with this one I want the freedom to put wire wheels on and choose my color, so a fictional club racer in classic British Racing Green.

Dave B Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Looking great Pierre, especially the wheels. A fictitious finish, this I've got to see, hope you're feeling OK!!! Dave B

Pierre Rivard Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 So British Racing Green it is. Or at least my interpretation of it. Color mix is 50/50 Vallejo Black Green (70.980) and Dark Sea Blue (70.898). Vallejo 70.510 gloss varnish applied 2 days after color. These finishes have been brush painted. Polishing will have to wait about a week as I want that clear to fully cure and maximum adhesion to set in. 2
MarkJ Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Wow, Pierre . Your brush painting gets better and better and I dare say that it doesn't look like you need to polish the finish at all. 1
1959scudetto Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Pierre, that is nice - your brush painting looks smoother than my spray-painting efforts. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Thank you guys, feedback much appreciated. Paint came out pretty good but the picture flatters it a bit. A bit of polishing will be needed to even out the surface gloss. No brush marks though, so that's a win.
kensar Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 The finish looks pretty good in the pics. I guess its too late to add some yellow trim to set off the green. Just the same - an excellent model in the making!

Pierre Rivard Posted June 15, 2024 Author Posted June 15, 2024 Working only part time on this one... the busy life of this retiree gets in the way sometimes... I did make a few things. Dial decals leftover form a E-type project should be perfect for this. For once I ended up achieving the color match that was in my head (among other things...). Not bright red, not burgundy. Something in between... blood red! 3
1959scudetto Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Dashboard and interior are looking excellent, Pierre ! 1
Pierre Rivard Posted June 21, 2024 Author Posted June 21, 2024 Chassis and engine stuff done. The chassis is only a 3 component set and the engine has 8 but the castings are pretty good. I just added some paint finish variations and mild weathering to give it some interest. Also I added some wiring and 3D printed (local supply) ignition coil and plug boots.
MarkJ Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Oh yeah. That engine is downright beautiful with the varying shades of metal. And the wiring is so cleanly done I wonder how your fingers can perform the magic it must take to accomplish this precision.
