Thanks for your interest, Will. There's some great paint in those cheap little bottles! I don't know if you read the first post but adapting that '63 chassis was a disaster. The '60 was kind of unique and if I had it to do over again, I would have spent more time evaluating the swap. The scratch building could have been better.

Yeah I saw it, lemme tell you right now I don't have the scratch-building skills to do what you did with that chassis?

Absolutely fantastic work!

Well thank you, Will, I appreciate your kind words.

After spending a fat chunk of yesterday rubbing out this body and most of today foiling it, I am not happy with the end result and it's because I didn't wait long enough for the paint to get completely solid. I thought it was. It was when I got to the Novus stage I saw the scratches. They would not polish out and there's not enough paint on the body to drop back down to 3200 and coming back up. I was already seeing some unevenness; I hate to repaint, so on to the foil we go.

This car has a ?-ton of trim. Half of it is easy enough but that stuff up front is an angry female canine. I thought I wanted to get another one of these kits but now...not so much. Some areas were a bit difficult because of weak mold lines although most of that was at the bottom of the belt line trim. Anyway, thanks for checking in. ?

Looks great from here Jim! I’ve only built one full bodied car model since getting back to the hobby and this was the kit! I loved the amount of detail( I masked and painted the trim).

Thanks, Bil, it is a decent kit. I still have more to do so maybe my attitude will improve after it's all together.  I have the interior pieces masked and ready for paint but it's rain tomorrow. ?

Great job on foiling that beast Jim!?

It was a job, Greg. Lots of do-overs. Lots of wasted foil. This is usually my favorite task. ?

I like the work you did correcting the rear axle and the engine block. The painted body looks stunning, and really shows the beauty of the Starliner shape. Very nice work.

Thanks, Sonny.  I agree on the beauty of this body style. The "corrected" engine didn't make the final cut, though. Testor's "violet metallic" is a favorite of mine and I decided on it because I wanted the trim to show up well. It seems to have worked.IMG_5835.jpg.7ba414f6a713a0de1330a8b4799266a3.jpg

One of these days I'll wrap this one up. Same color, different car. ? I love those little square bottles.IMG_5837.jpg.6e0f12d10e84c07380bd12447ae19a47.jpggotta love this body style. Notice the similar roof-line.

Great looking paint finish and the chrome trim looks cleanly done.

Thanks, Dave, it does photograph well enough but the roof reflection tells the story. ?

Like it a lot! You could persuade me to like purple again. Nice job.

Thanks, Dan. I like darker colors when the trim Is a prominent feature. Black is very unforgiving of my limited painting talent and this dark violet was a fair choice. It may be available in a rattlecan, Dan. ?

Did a little painting on the interior today with a cheapey 2 stage airbrush. I don't know why anybody likes them. It's such an awkward process. But I started to get the hang of it and it's all good. Thankfully ?.  So here's what it looks like after that. The plan is to foil the middle section of the door panels and some additional miscellaneous application. I have a photo reduction instrument panel. I may find it impossible to detail the dash the way it sits now. I had to glue it to the door panels in order to get it all to fit together with the '63 floor section. So I'm not looking forward to "disassembling" the three parts. We shall see. Wish me luck ?.

Dont worry, I also plan to tone down the purple and buff up the white with some satin clear (I heard what you said ?)

It's a nice color combination and everything looks workable. It should turn out quite nicely in the end.

David G.

When the exterior is this color there aren't many choices. I thought maybe all white but that made me feel like i would be taking the lazy way out. The dash needed to be body color so...here we are. For now.

I like the combination Jim. Like you said some mat clear should improve matters. The white is too flat and the purple too glossy.

Yes, Lenny, that's the plan. ?....the interior parts went in the dehydrator yesterday; they were still sticky. I'll be playing with that today. I need a completion  to justify my existence.

Curses.... foiled again! Ok, I didn't curse much but I did get some foil on the door panels. There's a little on the dash too. Thanks for looking.

Tidy work Jim, someday I’ll take another stab at a full car kit and I’ll definitely have to try the foil

I was expecting "ew....gold?".  I had to find out what this would look like. ?

I tried that '29 roadster with fenders and I totally hated it. No more A-bones with fenders for me. Or deuces. That's why I like those Revell kits - no fenders. ?

Imo the only one they looks anywhere half decent with fenders is the 29 pickup! Roadsters should be clean, lean and unfettered with silly accessories like fenders and possibly even hoods.
To the topic at hand, gold goes really well with Purple! Brave choice, but well done ?
