Allison Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I have an old car kits model with decals, i would like to repaint everything again with different colors and new decals, what should i do? Need advice
slusher Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 You can try masking tape and pulling off fast to remove the decals.sand them or stripping with super clean oran alcohol bath..
Allison Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 Hi Slusher thank you for your advice. Question: How will i detach all those parts when all is glued already? thank you

Allison Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 this photo is what i want to re-do again. It’s my 1st Tamiya model kits. Is it advisabke to re-do again or leave it that way
JollySipper Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 That model looks too nice to take apart! I believe I would just leave that one together and maybe start with a new kit for your second attempt....... I've been thinking about getting that kit and building it as a street car. It would make for one badass pro-touring, I think!
bobss396 Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I bought an old glue bomb '62 Ford kit and took it apart. It was assembled many moons ago using tube glue... and lots of it. I had a set of Model Car Garage photo-etched saw blades and those made it possible. They were flexible and I never even broke one.
Fat Brian Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 If it's in your budget I would buy a new kit and build it again. You'll never have your first builds back and you could possibly damage it enough during disassembly you need another kit anyway. 1
NOBLNG Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 By the time you buy new decals (if you can find them) and repair damage done by disassembly you’ll be better off with a new kit. 1 1
mrm Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I would join everyone else and say the same thing. Just get a new kit. For something like this where the kit is readily available and not all that expensive it's always the better route. And as it was already mentioned, you can have your first Tamiya kit. That's actually really important in my opinion. I have gifted, sold or simply given away a lot of models. But there are few that I am not parting with. They are far from great, but every time I look at them I can see how far I have taken my abilities. 1
Allison Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 Hi mrm thank you for your advise, i think yeah i keep it as that’s my 1st project and accomplished that i can say.
Bugatti Fan Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 (edited) Your model looks well finished and OK to me Allison. If it ain 't broke, don't try to fix it ! Better your time spent on something new perhaps in my humble opinion. Edited August 7, 2024 by Bugatti Fan
