Wild turkeys on my girlfriend's block. Sometimes we see 6 or more just waltzing on the side of the road.

My girlfriend likes the heat. She's into a spicy margarita ? when he go out.

I have hot cherry, cayenne and 4 jalapeños on the patio in pots. I did reapers a few years back and they were HOT. I pack them up in small batches so I add them to chili or soup.

I would need a 50 lb. bag of Rolaids just looking at these, I'm sure they're good for those who can enjoy them.

Looks like you've got them lining up, volunteering to become dinner.

My dad lived way out east and we would see massive flocks of them. He backed up to a county park and them and the deer wore a path next to the woods.

Come getting close to Thanksgiving.. there would be not a turkey in sight. Somehow they either got got or had a 6th sense to lay low.

I have an impressive squadron of Bluejays that stop by for breakfast every day. I feed them black sunflower seeds and peanuts.

I find loose feathers fairly often just off the deck. Some are quite vivid with color.

The rest of the herd showed up this morning,  there is six in this picture,  including a doe with a broken leg, she's been around for the last 2/3 years, these guys seem to be taking care of her. My wife also informed me that the fisher is back, any suggestions how to get rid of them? It's my understanding they are a  protected species here in ny.

Interesting about the broken leg. You usually hear animals don't survive long when hampered by something wrong. I'm sure you enjoy seeing her after all this time.

I've been seeing a bat or two late in the day, around dusk........ Also, those huge spiders that we get here are back. I used to wonder why those animals that feed on bugs come around late in the year after the food source is gone, then I realized we don't have the bugs BECAUSE of the bats and spiders!

Nature knows what it's doing........... B)

If it's not the same deer, then it's one real coincidence.  We always see that one with another doe and it's fawns. We assume it's the same one.

No spiders! Bats are fine though.

I used to go out at dusk and see a few bats circling around just above me and really enjoyed it but don't see them anymore. They may or may not still be around as I don't go out there much anymore at night but if it's like many other creatures they've slowly disappeared from the area.

I hope where everyone in the neighbor goes for walks, counts as my yard.......
This year saw my first Mountain Lion, just across the street from home, was about 14 feet from it when I walked by before getting on my neighbor's porch.  A few days ago, I had a Coyote stalking me.  We have a field, part BLM, the other Arizona, where people walk.  I was on the mountain bike this time.  It actually crouched down into the grass, of course I didn't get video of that, but it sure didn't act scared.

Since Turkey spotting seems to be in season, not near home, but saw 8.

Yeah, she needs to pay you some rent, or at least keep the bugs to a minimum. Those are interesting creatures,  I ended up watching some videos after I read an article this summer about the joro(spelling) spider possibly making an appearance here in nys.

14 feet is too close for me with that cat. I've seen way too many " I SURVIVED"  videos. One of nature's perfect killing machines right there. I'll take my chances with the turkeys.  Beautiful area you live in.

Yeah...when you consider the damage a 12 pound male housecat if it's really pissed can do to a human, imagining what it could do if it weighed 130 is pretty...intimidating.

Still, unless one is really hungry, I'm pretty sure it would just as soon be left alone to look for smaller prey. :)

This is a small farm by where my girlfriend lives. They have 2 horses, a pony and some turkeys. It is zoned for horses, etc and the properties are 1/2 acre and up.

These 2 come up to the fence looking for handouts.

Haven't seen him yet, but there's been an owl hooting every night for a couple weeks now.

He (or somebody that sounds like him) comes around every fall, and as I sleep with my windows open most of the year, I always hear him.

Wild turkeys and Canada geese at the office park a few blocks away at times, but not in my yard.

Several different species of hawks on occasion though.

There is a pair that live here on my property,  I watch them all the time. Spent a few evenings watching them grab critters fom the yard, amazing hunters.
