bobss396 Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 This one I dug out to take to a recent club meeting. It was built in 2001, the gun metal roof paint was done on 9/11/2001. Body is Monogram from something I built around 1996 and didn't like. The chassis is from a Monogram Tim Richmond kit. The blue paint is from MCW and I air brushed it. It still shows well considering how old it is. 6
Volzfan59 Posted August 21, 2024 Posted August 21, 2024 WOW Bob, that car looks great! I like everything about it, especially the color combination. Did you have to do a lot of modifications for fitment? The '55, '56 and '57 had such high roofs, I figured that you might have had to extend the A and B pillar bars? 1
BIGTRUCK Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Thats really nice, I like that era of stockers.

I cut the top off the cage and made an entirely new one. I have to look for progress pictures of the car. I found one from the NNL East either in 2000 or 2001. Edited August 22, 2024 by bobss396 1 1
MarkJ Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Great build, Bob. Thanks for, as you say, digging it out and exposing it to a lot of us who have never seen it before. Excellent build and really enjoy your choice of colors on this one. The paint and decals have held up well in storage.

Thanks for the compliments. 1
bobss396 Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Now I recall, I started that one on 2/18/2001, the day that Dale Sr. was killed at Daytona.
iBorg Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 That has held up amazingly well. The decals look right for a local racer. 1
BK9300 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 A great looking car - lots of detail in the engine bay, right down to the screen protecting the rad! 1
TarheelRick Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 Excellent build. Tri-5 Chevies make outstanding short track cars. This one is a perfect example of what a short-track car should look like. Mighty sweet for a 23-year-old build. 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Great looking Stocker. Sharp paint and detailing. Nice job. 1
Sledsel Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Looks super and the best build of that kit I have seen
slusher Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Great looking stocker Bob, love the color combo! 1
dust collectors Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 That's one good looking race car, the stance is perfect. 1
