Yeah, that's why I need to get this touch up job as close as possible. I'll be shooting the red on this morning.
NOBLNG Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Nice start Bob, stance looks good. Any of those engines would look great in there.

Rattlecan Dan Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Off he goes on another nice build. The man is unstoppable! Wishing you a smooth project.

Zippi Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 I had a little time at the bench yesterday and made a little progress. I now have the chassis modified to except these Big ole meats. I think I'll leave the tires in the rear exposed in the bed as I'm adding a bed cover. Just need to get a game plan on how to mount the blown engine in the business end. 5
dragcarz Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Wow Bob I almost missed this, I knew that kit was in good hands. I like what your doing here!

Zippi Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 (edited) Like always, I can't decide on a color. I was looking over the paint I had on hand and when your not sure black will work in a pinch. I'll let this set for a few days then throw some 2K Urethane clear on it. SpikeSchumacher Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 That's before the clear? WOW!!!!! 1

Scott8950 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Nice job. The black paint looks great. 1
dino246gt Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 That is a very cool start and I'm sure it'll turn out great! Now that I see Texas 3D's supercharged FE engine, I wish I'd have bought one, it looks fantastic and that's what I'd use in a vintage Ford build, but whatever you choose will be great!

Zippi Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Fellows, I decided to not shoot any clear on the body so I waxed it up and I have started the assembly process on this one. I painted the rotors a flat brass and the front glass has been installed but now I'm thinking I want to foil the trim around the windshield. 3
Zippi Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 I popped the windshield back out and foiled the trim around the windshield. Better look and takes away from all that black. 4
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Good choice on not clearing. Can't see that it would have improved and potentially might have messed up a strategy paint job.
STU111 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 No need for a clear coat on that paint job! this is looking really good so far. Can’t wait to see the finished product .

Zippi Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) I got a little more completed so I guess any work is moving forward. I got the back of the truck buttons up and I believe I'm done with the interior tub. I still need to do a little detail work on the firewall and I'll be ready to install the engine. This kit comes with a trailer so I'm going to add the trailer hitch and have this truck pulling a drag car to the track. Edited September 23, 2024 by Zippi 3
