baycolony Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 This is the 1/24 scale original Monogram kit from 1989. It is painted in "scalefinishes" factory Saturn Yellow with decanted UPOL clear coat. I added some details from the Model Car Garage photo etch set in addition to door handles and tire decals from "Fireball Modelworks" Finally, I added plug wires and a PVC hose, and sourced some gauge decals from EBAY. Hope you like it. 18
Chuckyg1 Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Looks really nice. I'm lovin' ' the interior detail. I have this kit in the stash, I may have to move it up in the queue after seeing yours. Very well done.
Bills72sj Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Well done. Very nice interior. You did better on yours than I did on mine.
baycolony Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 Thanks, and I have to add that if anyone builds this kit, I would advise using the "custom" rear suspension for a stock build like I did. The "stock" rear suspension is way to low. All wheels sit flat without adjustments
ncbuckeye67 Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 That's beautiful! I love the look of these Buicks.
ksnow Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Great build. Love the treatment of the hood scoops and front end. Got all the yellow paint where it needs to be.
baycolony Posted October 29, 2024 Author Posted October 29, 2024 Thanks again, and Kyle, you are right about the front bumper and hood. One thing about this kit, all the detail is there but to tease it out and get it right was a challenge. Not bad for such an old kit. Really nice molded details. BTW, I rechromed the valve covers and rear bumper with sprayed Molotow ink. It really is amazing stuff. 1
espo Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The Striping is all cleanly done and straight. Great looking engine and interior detailing.
karbuildr Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Outstanding. Always liked these cars and your build looks very realistic.
