Nosferatu Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) I wanted to make a low pickup truck with scissor doors. After searching thru all my parts I came up with this. A Ferrari Modena and the Dodge Deora. This seemed to be the only pick up bed that would combine with the Ferrari front…and that wasn’t easy. I also decided to make a mid-engine vehicle so I kept the Ferrari engine. I made the headlights and bezels and used some parts from the stash for the interior keeping the Ferrari dashboard. I used a piece of the Ferrari for the body section that went over the engine and added the clear cover. I also added the home made spoiler. The scissor doors were another challenge. I was able to mold in a piece of tubing to the end of the dash on each side and drill a hole thru the tube into the side of the dash for the swivel pin. I had to re-scribe the door latch sides as the doors were too long. I used pieces of other door panels and some flat stock to complete the doors. I also shortened the windshield height and added the top frame. Lots of hours on the bodywork! For the paint I used a combination of three different nail polish colors. Painting the body metallic silver first then laying down the tape for the stripe, then air brushing the blue over it all. I have added a few WIP pics. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. espo Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Great imagination creating the body. The final body lines look smooth and blend well. The color looks great and a smooth finish. Not something you would expect to find in the parking lot at the Home Depot or Lowes, but better than any El Camino or Ranchero.
Chuckyg1 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Now that's something I wouldn't expect to see. Great vision and execution. Very very nice
lordairgtar Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 When I saw the rough mock up I though "Oh Gawd" , but after seeing the finished work I am kinda digging it. Turned out very well.
NOBLNG Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Now that is something completely different! Well done too.?
Rattlecan Dan Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Almost too wild for words. Nice concept and build.
XYHARRY Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Now that's what it's all about, using your imagination to create something out of nothing. Great modelling there Dave, I can't wait to see your next creation, well done. Cheers, David M.??

TarheelRick Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Alright, someone not afraid to modify an untouchable Ferrari. Don't see many, if any, customized/modified Ferraris, glad to see one. And this one came out quite well. Nice paint work and bodywork to put those two completely opposite bodies together. I like it.
