espo Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Think of a car guy or gal buying an 8- or 10-year-old Chrysler 300 at a good price and then fixing up to their tastes. The roof treatment was not an uncommon paint treatment at the time. Body: Bumpers front, and rear have been tucked in and chrome removed. Painted to look like lower roll pans and the thin raised portion rechromed with a Gundam Marker. Paint: Tamiya paints TS-58 Pearl Light Blue and TS-65 Pearl Clear. Roof: TS-72 Clear Blue over a mask of boarder material from Jo-Ann Fabrics and a topcoat of Pearl Clear. Interior: Pearl Light Blue with AS-19 U S Navy Intermediate Blue seat inserts for contrast. Dark Blue Flocking for carpet, kits gauge decals, Foil and Gundam pen for details. Engine: The OEM dual fours and Air Cleaners were used on another project and with the low hood I went with the Super Charger and side draft Carbs. for an old '57 Bel Air kit. Added plug wires and hoses. Chassis: Homemade front spindles in front and lowering blocks in the rear to lower ride height. Wheels & Tires: Pegasus Chrome Reverse Wheels and narrow White Walls. Problems: The chassis was bowed and in the wrong direction for lowering. Repeated hot water soakings and bending by hand could only due so much. Cut several relief notches in the frame I was able to get it to lay flat and fit properly inside the body. Enjoy. 22

Tim W. SoCal Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Bitchen' '57 Chrysler 300C, David! LOVE the colors you chose and the contrasting lace painted roof. Wheels & tires along with your lowering mods nail it! The supercharger and side draft carburetors are an interesting choice also.

For the engine I tried to stay with the OEM colors. 22 hours ago, Tim W. SoCal said: Bitchen' '57 Chrysler 300C, David! LOVE the colors you chose and the contrasting lace painted roof. The roof treatment is a first-time experiment for me and something I had been wanting to try. The wheels and tire are a second choice as I was going to use some wider tires until I found that I would have to do too much to the wheel wells to make them fit. As I mentioned I had robbed the kits intake for another build long ago and I had the blower and side drafts setup off of an early '57 Chevy kit and it just does clear the hood. There was a time when even Hot Rods could be seen with some sort of roof paint treatment and that is what I was trying to do. 1

The blower was to replace the carbs I had robbed out of this kit. On 11/5/2024 at 6:34 AM, STU111 said: Awesome looking period custom. Looks great inside and out. ?? Thank you.
