Paul Payne Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Over the years I have received lots of items in trade- several Deuce roadster bodies, two Model A bodies, some chassis- most are started projects the original builder lost interest in. Time for some resurrections! This should keep me busy for the winter, possibly longer! Already started on a resin chopped 3 window 34- grafted on a pie cut 40 hood with another on the bottom- sort of a cross between the Crisman Model A couple and the the Pierson Brothers 33 track nose. Should have a good half dozen projects. More pix when I get more done! 9 1
Bullybeef Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Looks like a winter of fun building @Paul Payne
LennyB Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Reminds me of a box I have loaded with early AMT '32 fords, the ones that were molded in black, a resin '32 3-window coupe, and a lot of other pieces circa the same era. Keep saying I need to make something out of it. Edited November 10, 2024 by LennyB 3
Paul Payne Posted December 1, 2024 Author Posted December 1, 2024 First project- 33 Chopped coupe mocked up on the chassis- stance looks good! 4
Zippi Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 I'm really diggin this journey your on Paul. I Really like the old Hot Rods. What you've got started is looking pretty sharp.
Paul Payne Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 First completion of the stash bash! 1933 Ford chopped coupe with 2 40 Ford noses put together for the front end. Built as a curbside, something I don't often do. More pix in under glass, I also have been working on a giant V-16 which will go into a stash bash King Rat with a Duesenberg frame, Model A roadster body and big rig wheels and tires. The V-16 started many years ago with 2 Bugatti Royale engine blocks. Added dual overhead camshafts, 2 centrifugal superchargers, and 2 large 4bbl carbs from the parts box. Will be fabricating the carb linkage and fuel lines as the project progresses. 5 1
Paul Payne Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Second build of the Stash Bash- Biggie Rat rat rod. 5
Paul Payne Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 Lots of progress on Biggie Rat- body and interior mostly done except for windscreens, grille, headlights, radiator and hoses installed, front suspension mounting to be fabricated and installed, steering to be built and installed, throttle linkage and fuel lines also to be febbed and installed. 2
Paul Payne Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Number 2 of the stash bash completed- Biggie Rat! More pix in under glass. 1
bobss396 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 As a kid, I had a box of model parts hoarded up. My mom worked in a store and brought home big coat boxes with lids. So when I was bored and broke, I'd dive into the box and build something.
Paul Payne Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 Number 3 in the stash bash! This one started out as just the green Model A roadster body. Dug out a tubular roadster frame, a chrome tree from the rat rod pickup, and various goodies from the parts boxes. Engine is from the latest rendition of the Revell 32 roadster.
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Nicely done. Some great projects. Parts box builds are really fun.
Paul Payne Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Third model of the stash bash complted- Model A roadster. More pix in under glass! 1
Paul Payne Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 (edited) Fourth in the stash bash. 32 Ford roadster received in a trade. Frame attached to body, not my style of building should be interesting to paint. Looks like a flip front end was planned but front cross member was too narrow and too far forward. Removed and replaced it and added a tube on the grille shell bottom. This allows the back of the hood to meet the cowl properly. Edited April 21 by Paul Payne
Bugatti Fan Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Picking up part built kits or complete ones that someone has lost interest in is a good inexpensive way of acquiring various items.
Paul Payne Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Flip nose Deuce completed! Sneak peek, more in under glass! 2
Paul Payne Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Number 5 in the stash bash- another project gotten in trade from someone who lost interest in it. Considerable modifications to the chassis, especially where the transverse spring will mount. Going with an old weathered rusty hot rod- not a barn find- not a rat rod- with an Eddie Meyer hop up kit on the engine for some extra gow! Included a couple of pix to show the direction I am going. 2
