crispy Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) Nice clean work Jeff! Which kit is that? Edit: Fujimi, Duh. Anyway, very nice. Chris Edited April 21, 2009 by crispy
Zoom Zoom Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Nice work, further proof that Fujimi really nailed the shape and most details.
MonoPed Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Very nice!! And yeah, it does capture the shape better than the Italeri kit.
Italianhorses Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Sits a bit high, but looks great otherwise.
Jeff Johnston Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Sits a bit high, but looks great otherwise. Yeah I had a really hard time getting the ride height correct, and even more so, getting the wheels to sit properly "inside" of the wheel wells...not stick out of the wheels wells like a 70's musclecar. I never was happy with the rear wheels sticking out, and believe me, I had them on and off a dozen times. I am convinced its the kit...or at least I convinced myself of that
janositamas Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Wow, it looks fabulous to me! Superb work, congrats!
Randy Kern Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Jeff, that Ferrari looks great! All it needs is Ismael's little card trick to get it down lower .
John E. Bowers Jr. Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I have both the Revell of Germany and Fujimi kits waiting in the wings. Are these the kit supplied wheels used on the car that you have pictured?
MrObsessive Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Wow! That red is eye searing! Excellent Ferrari Jeff! I had the same problem many years ago with Fujimi's Ferrari Daytona. I remember having to shave down the wheel hubs as the wire wheels stuck out too far. Weird because the five spoke "star" wheels didn't do that (different offsets?) but I wanted the wires badly as they're very nice.
Bernard Kron Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Nice build. They really have captured that lovely shape.
Nick F40 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I got to build me one of these. Yours came out great!
Zoom Zoom Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Sometimes fitting the wheels over a polycap or an axle into a polycap requires more oomph than expected. I'll bet your wheels aren't fully seated. I looked at the instructions, and that's what I suspect, unless there's something in the assembly that resulted w/the brake discs being mounted outboard of where they are intended. Here is Fujimi's page on the GTO, and the wheels seem to be correctly situated on their prototype and buildup: Fujimi Website GTO Photos

I tried everything I knew, including honing out the center of the wheel so it'd slide on better. I was afraid to press on them too hard, for fear of collapsing the entire rear suspension. But your right, those pics definitely have the wheels under the wheel wells like they are supposed to.
