Can-Con Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Don't seem to have a problem in other threads though. "Strange thing" that it's only that thread. Keeps saying page can't be found.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I had that appear a couple of days ago while trying to make a post. Thought for a few minutes maybe I'd committed some new "political" transgression and been locked out again. I copied my response, logged out and back in, everything worked as normal when I pasted the response in the reply box. Ghosts? Gremlins? Boogeymen? Aliens?

Xingu Posted January 10 Posted January 10 We are a well polished machine. Sometimes, we have no idea what causes the issues. It could be a simple string of characters that triggers a red flag on any of numerous pieces of equipment the zeros and ones passes through. Could be something that just simply causes the function to time out and the page not found could be the software's default message. 2
Plastheniker Posted January 16 Posted January 16 (edited) I am trying to start a new topic for appr. 8 hours (Under Glass / Cars). Everything works as usual until I click the Submit Topic button. Then the Oops! That page can#t be found ...appears. Logging in and out several times doesn't help, switching to other browsers either.. Edited January 16 by Plastheniker

Plastheniker Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Typing first and copypasting is what I always do. After one day it is still impossible to start a new topic.
Plastheniker Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Another day but still the same malfunction. This is possibly a general problem. There are almost no recent topics in the Under Glass/Cars subforum since Wednesday..
Steve H Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I had the same problem last night. Tried to start a topic in the truck section, but no go. Frustrating, as I had spent a fair bit of time composing the subject. Of course, I’m a slow typer so there’s that….

Hi Michael, I just tried again to create a post in the truck section with no luck. This is the first time I’ve had any issues with a post. No issues whatsoever last week with creating a topic. Also able to respond to topics, just can’t seem to start this new thread. Frustrating for sure. Any thoughts or suggestions? I haven’t hanged anything on my end. Thanks in advance.
Xingu Posted January 19 Posted January 19 We had a meeting yesterday and talked about this issue. We are not sure what is causing it. Dave is going to poke around on our side to see if maybe a setting could be tweaked, but can't guarantee we can find a solution.

Michael, just so you know, I was able to post in the thread by doing it as a response to another post like I'm doing here. Might be another clue. 1
Wild Child Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hello, I am new to this forum and just tried to post a topic under Drag cars. Everything went well, and I hit submit, but topic did not show up under Drag cars. Pics are in my attachment area though, but no post. Do the posts go up immediately, do they take time to appear, or is there a problem? Just curious, 1st post.

I am not tech savvy at all, so can’t offer any insight. I have just tried again to post a new thread and can’t do it. Now super frustrated… To be clear, not frustrated with you folks, I appreciate everything you do to keep this board running. This is what I keep getting 👇 I tried on Friday, Saturday, and again just now. I’m using the same device, and am fairly certain it isn’t something I’m doing wrong. I hope it gets sorted out soon. Thanks again for all you folks do. Cheers, Steve
peteski Posted January 20 Posted January 20 The screen shot seems to indicate a smart phone or tablet being used. I wonder if the problem is related to the mobile version of the forum?

It seems it has something to do with <img> tag. For me, the "oops, that page cannot be found" appears when i copy the <img> address from one browser to another. So, for example, i copy the <img> (from my case, imgur) address using one browser and pasting it to the thread on another browser. It works fine if i copy and paste it from one tab to another. 1
Plastheniker Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) This might be the the solution: If starting a new thread or a reply contains a longer text the malfunction will appear. If you reduce your post to one or two sentences and (in my case) 9 pictures everything works. Edited January 20 by Plastheniker 1

On this forum there is no need to use those <> tags within the message. You just copy/paste the bare URL of the image and the forum will automatically add the image to your post at the cursor location. I never even tried using those <> tags.

I understood him to say "I can re-create the issue pretty easily", not that he necessarily uses <img> tags. Sometimes during diagnostic procedures (in mechanical systems as well), you try to recreate the effect any way you can, which often sheds light on the actual cause. Well, I do, anyway. Steve H Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I was able to start a new topic tonight. It does seem to be related to how much text there is? Weird… I can be pretty wordy, and never had issues before. I’m hoping when I reply to my own topic, I will be able to be wordy, I got a lot to say, and a story to tell….😜
Steve H Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Yep…. Still had an issue. Hopefully Dave’s software update fixes it. Thank you moderators for everything you do, it’s appreciated.
