The theme for next year's show is Long Roofs & Trucks. I've had this guy roaming around my noodle for a few years now.

Meet S'LOW(Slow & Low). Low ridin delivery that will have a Pontiac 6 shooter under the hood. I've got an idea for the paint scheme-more on that later.

So far I've fitted a chassis with a Viper front end and a 9" Ford out back. The wheels are from Jay's Resins on ebay. I'll decide their color later as I have 2 versions on the brain.

I've got this resin engine. Should I wash it before assembly? What do I wash it with? Dawn?

Definitely wash those parts! At the least, I would use dish soap & warm water. Personally, I usually use TSP solution (trisodium phosphate, available as a powder at most hardware places) to clean resin pieces.

Correct me if I am wrong but that 1:1 pic looks like a Pontiac overhead cam 6 banger.

No correction necessary. That's what I'm putting in this one 😁

Hmmm, lots of clean up work ahead of you with all of that flash.

Make sure you test fit the engine inside the engine compartment before you get too far., to ensure the timing belt cover clears the underside of the hood.

👍🏻

It's almost a "flash"back to some of the kits i got back in the early '80s.

This is gonna be awesome when finished. I've always liked this generation trucks, the pontiac and suspension adds to an already cool truck. Did you cast that engine yourself,  I've tried in the past with only about 40% success. Very nice so far

I've always liked these old panel trucks. Surprisingly, I don't have any in my collection. I'll just have to enjoy watching you build yours.

I bought the engine from MCW. He has some resin parts and cars on his site. I'm hoping to get some work on this one this week.

I had a 1965 C30 panel truck in 1975. It came with an oil belching 215 Pontiac straight 6, similar to the Chevy 230. I swapped a 283 and headers into it.

I'd like to build one. But I would need 2 bodies. The C30 was much longer.

That's a bummer. Do you have a "plan B" or are you going to attemp to salvage this?

I have no idea how to salvage this. It's resin, and I've never worked with resin cast parts. I don't know what material to use with it. I've got a 6 cylinder from a '51 3100 in the stash. I thought the Poncho would be cool.

What a bummer!

:(

It looks like your best option would be to find another option.

If you choose to go with filling and sculpting, I've had some success using CA and baking soda as a filler. It cures instantly and it's a little harder than styrene when it comes to working it.

It should work with resin.
