My contribution to the Classic Plastic Model Club Club Challenge-Revell 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS. To be painted with Dupli-Color Light Metallic Blue inside and out like my 1961 and 1962 Impalas. I have until October 5th to finish this when we have our Exhibition. I just have to decide on which version to build.

From the color of the spray can lid it looks like the old code #22 Blue Mt. Very popular color and shows the body lines well.

Thanks Topher and David!  I have the '61 and '62 impalas painted in that blue and I want to add a '63 to it as well.  I guess I have a "thing" for that blue. LOL

Working for a Chevrolet dealership this was one of the safest colors to order for inventory since almost anyone would switch to this shade of blue if their desired color wasn't available.

That's good to know, David!  Dealerships have changed considerably since then.  I wonder if the colors are black silver, grey white?

The basic engine has been assembled and drilled for ignition wires. The chassis has been assembled and is ready for semi-gloss black paint. The wheels and tires have been assembled and painted since the decals didn't fit and they had separated.

I did a mock-up of the Impala SS to check the stance. I like it! On this Chevy, I tried to do a pose like the picture I had found on Google Images and I copied the stance exactly! Now, to paint all of this. The bottom picture is my screen saver on my computer and my inspiration for this build.

Thanks Curt!  I ran out of Dupli-Color Light Blue Metallic paint and reached for my substitute Tamiya Pearl Light Blue.  Close, but no cigar!  I'll have to run out and get some if I can find it.

I like that color but the Dupli-Color Light Blue Metallic will look the part Mike.

Thanks Zippi and Greg!

I shot the interior with Tamiya Pearl Light Blue and I knew I had to go out and get another can of Dupli-Color Light Blue Metallic paint.  It was worth getting!

Another mockup! I wanted to see the painted body and chassis together. Looks good! This is due in October and it is going together rapidly. Bare Metal Foil is next.

Thanks David, Evan, Tom and Bob!  The color matches my '61 and '62 Chevys perfectly.  This is going together so fast and I need to slow down a bit since this model is not due until October for the Classic Plastic Model Expo Club Challenge.

I Installed the hood and trunk logos, painted the rear trunk panel and I completed the interior.

Nice work dude! I now have another kit to add to my stash. Seeing folks builds of stuff I don't have will be good reason for kit buying! (Just kidding, I don't need a reason lol)

Just so you know, this kit has long since been out of production.  Maybe you can find one in a out-of-production website or something.
