Falcon Ranchero Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) I have quite a few of the space age cars so I though why not make a reference thread with just these types of cars. Feel free to add same era cars you've sighted. 1956-1962 is the rough time period. Edited February 4 by Falcon Ranchero 2
Bainford Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Probably not what you had in mind, but these are some of my favourite tail fins. No one does fins like the Alfa Romeo BATs. 3

chryslerjunkandstuff Posted February 5 Posted February 5 That 1960 Chrysler 300 F coupe posted above is beautiful and rare! It is 1-of-28 coupes built with Code 999 Special Order Paint! Anyway, tailfins an chrome.. I got enough in my digital archives to make this thread 30 pages long! One day, I'll probably make some dedicated threads on here with all of my reference pics by make/model etc.. But, for now, I'll just post a handful.. Also, NOBODY did tailfins as good as Exner did! Misha Posted February 6 Posted February 6 What a great thread! One’s heart longs for the days of imaginative stylin’ compared to today’s bubble cars identifiable only by the badging on the grill; oy vey! Combed thru my collection of photos from BJ, Goodguys, and local show’n’shines in Arizona and the Cowichan Valley and came up with the following…. Cheers Misha 4 1
Russell C Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Pic from this guy's Packard site - I've seen other car guy pages elsewhere criticize the fins of the '58 Packards, but I like 'em even if they do look like old AMT/SMP kit custom add-ons. 1
DJMar Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Not exactly big fins, but this particular car is one of my favorite looking Impalas of that era. 2

I had the name of the owner at one point but lost is somewhere along the line. It's a really cool car and I'm a sucker for any big boat on skinny whitewalls and Astro Supremes. Misha Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Some more tail fin shots from the opening spring 2025 Goodguys season in Arizona… Cheers Misha 2

Those taillights would look neat molded into the hind quarters of a 50-56 Chevy, or even a 50-56 Ford. 1
