The business end is looking nice there Bil.

Thank you Bob, still a couple of smallish details to do but I’m super happy with it!

The engine looks good Bil…so does the body. It could be just the photo, but in the second one it looks like the frame has a twist in it?

Thank you Greg, it’s the lower part of the K-member making it lean! It’s perfectly straight once I put the wheels n tires on.

Thanks Craig, need some dry weather, it’s been damp cold and miserable for weeks!

Well I can honestly say that I’m hugely disappointed with the duplicolour primer, I went through the exact same process of prep and paint that I’ve been doing for years with the only exception of the duplicitous Duplicolour primer, I feel duped. So now it’s gonna sit in the purple pond of doom. After months of waiting for good painting weather, this “dampens” my spirits.

And lastly the sad sack mock-up to try to cheer myself up!

Well that sucks! Your mockup looks great though…from a distance.🥴

Yeah it’s got the beginnings of a great patina job…

Well, I hate that the paint with south on ya Bil but looking at the mockup it'll be worth the wait on getting the paint right.

Sad but true, deflating for sure. You will overcome though and it is a lesson learned. Hold fast…

It’s days like this the purple pond lives for. Have no fear Bil, you will get the bear next time.

Thanks for the kind words gents, persevere I shall. I had another body(like who doesn’t have a spare 32 3 window shell just laying around) and I went through my usual prep and paint process this time with my dwindling supply of Tamiya primer and paint( gonna be a sad day when it finally runs out) and the results show the difference. To those who might say it was something in my process that went bad I’ll say nay it was the subpar primer that I was sold like a bill of goods, duplicolour is no substitute for quality, I’ll save the can and use it as intended on some random piece of farm/garden implement as it’s only fit for.

Me too man, me too. Gonna let it gas out for a couple of days before I handle it to do final assembly. Just have to find the fancy bits for the final push like door handles, mirror, tail lights headlights.

Looking good👍 I buy the Tamiya primer in the square bottle, thin it with lacquer thinner and airbrush it. It’s the same primer as the spray cans I believe. I keep a jar of it for my Paasche mixed so I don’t have to clean the cup each time.🙂

Actually, I'm not wearing them. I hate them and they were a waste of $1500.00. There! I said it!

...and then it dawned on me. You're talking about a bottom-feeder. Not a top-loader. 🤣

I don’t own an airbrush, maybe I should! 🤔

You won’t regret it!🙂 Cleaning it is the only drawback. With a single action-external mix airbrush like a Paasche or Badger the cleaning required is very simple and easy.

Cleaning…. Ohh maaann that’s like work😜

Well I’ll give it some consideration, the initial cost outlay is a bit out of my budget atm unless I buy a cheapo chinesium one from Temu or Amazon. 🤔

That you may regret?🥴 I’d wait and get a quality unit.

Sorry to hear about your paint set back. Love the direction you were going with this Deuce.

Best of luck to your Oilers against the Golden Knights...

Good save for your build with the spare body - looking good

I have used an airbrush since the mid 70's and actually hate using rattle cans on models - just can't get the hang of it. Rattlers are ok for implements and fab jobs in the workshop though - easier to lean than a spray gun. Airbrush cleaning is a chore but cleanliness is next to Godliness they say

Don’t get me wrong Bill, I’m not against an airbrush, just to do a proper setup the cost  outlay is way out of my modelling budget at the moment, I’ve got a good process for rattle cans and I’m happy with the results.
