Some time ago the late great Dave Fletcher (R.I.P.) and I worked on an idea of turning a '29 Ford roadster into a 5ive window coupe. @carnut aka Mike Kerns sent me a few of Dave's W.I.P.s:

One especially caught my eye:

This body made me look twice as to how it appeared to come together!

Background search located these line drawings with measurements from the original Fords:

The numbers tell the story, but the outcome has it differences! Here what Dave cobbled together based on the Revell '29 Roadster and the Revell '30 Coupe kits:

A later iteration looked like this:

Following a bit of thought the combination of possible donors to bashing together Revell kit parts to come up with a '29 Ford Coupe "Look-A-Like" utilizing the cowl from the Revell '29 Closed Cab - Roadster Pickup:

Doing a few measurements found the kit parts could be merged together to create a '29 looking 5ive window:

Kit,

I am glad that you are going to be able to use the bodies from Dave Fletcher.  He was a very inspiring builder and he knew his subject well. We both also talked about the 29 Model A 5 window conversion and the Revell Model A’s. The metallic gray 29 that I see in your photos. Dave actually had paint on that at one time, but then he stripped the paint off. I don’t know why but it was for some reason.

We both talked about building an accurate 29 on a 32 Deuce frame. I sure muss him.

I know that you will do an excellent job and I can see in your building style the same meticulous attention to detail, but also the fun factor of building as well.

This build of yours is inspiring me to dig out my Revell 29 on a 32 frame rails  A roadster powered by a hot rodded Chevrolet inline 6.

Thank you very much for sharing these nice pictures and your knowledge, I myself have turned and turned on the coupe body and wondered if I would be able to build a 30/31 roadster, in allés as always, "Every great project requires parts from a kit you do not own or does not exist.”

Kit, have you considered the Ala Kart cowl from the AMT '29 roadster kit?

I have to get back to this soon but I'm using one to convert an old Revell '30 sedan delivery to a '29.

It actually was already converted when I got it but wasn't really very well done so I stripped it and an starting over. Probably should just get the Flintstone body but I like to use what I have already.

Just a thought ,, another option out there.

Reverse the process I used here and adapt the Revell '30 Coupe Cowl to the '29 Roadster body... us the windshield from the Revell '29 Roadster PU -KK

I too have considered converting the '30 sedan - you've got a good start! -KK

My apologies for sidetracking your thread Kit.

Here is my version of building a 30 Model A roadster out of the Revell 30 Ford.

What I did was I simply did not glue the roof section on the body and I filled the two small little tab slots. I do know that it’s probably not accurate. I’ve been told by one or two “experts” that the doors are too short, but I don’t care. I decided to build this as a period late 40s to early 50s hot rod. I especially like the Hallock Windshield.
