Valvefloat Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I was just playing around with QuickShine, added 4 drops of craft paint black mixed it and poured it over back glass, wiped off excess and this is result. I may try it again and see if it darkens it. 2

Mark W Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I use Future (is the quick shine?) and tint it with food color. Seeing you post, I may experiment with acrylics. I’ve had spotty results with double coating, sometimes it doesn’t go on as smooth as the first coat. It's better to tint the Future darker and go with one coat. Brushing slowly works fine, clean your brush with Windex with ammonia. But don’t use ammonia in your airbrush!!! The metal doesn’t like it.

OOps, made the mistake of taping to paint the black trim, the tape pulls off the Quick Shine. Rookie mistake. 1

Pierre Rivard Posted April 20 Posted April 20 I've had trouble using Quick Shine over glass pieces. Poor adhesion and does not wash off with windex like Future does. Hope you have better luck than I did. 1

TarheelRick Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Looks like a save to me. Maybe a touch of some kind of polish to bring the sheen back.

1930fordpickup Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Could you put the tint on the inside of the window? So dusting later will be safer? Just asking after a thought.

rattle can man Posted April 20 Posted April 20 You might try other acrylic floor care products on some scrap clear parts.

Matt Bacon Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Get some black drafting/technical pen ink. Rotring pretty much owns the market this side of the pond, not sure if the same is true in the US, but someone will still make it. Very dense black but with very fine pigment. Add it a drop or two at a time until you get the density you want (though bear in mind it’ll get a bit darker as it dries…) best, M.
peteski Posted April 21 Posted April 21 How about using Tamiya "smoke" acrylic paint? Also companies which sell urethane resins also sell dyes for tinting resin. I have several dyes from Smooth-On.
