Customs Posted April 27 Posted April 27 My dad bought this 1967 Freightliner in 1969 it came with a 318 Detroit Diesel he drove for Superior Iron and Metal Company of Fort Wayne(witch is now known as OMNISOURCE CORP.)when it was time for a rebuild he purchased a new in the crate 350 Cummins from Cummins of Fort Wayne, Indiana he mated it with a 13 speed transmission and changed the rear ends it would run 100mph until he got a speeding ticket for doing 90mph. The 13 speed was changed back to a 10 speed transmission and different rear end gears it became a puller not a runner while other trucks were grabbing gears going up the hills the old man cruzed at 65mph in 10th gear but they always sailed by us going down hill. I started building this truck back in November using the AMT Freightliner kit I used most of the original kits parts besides the motor and air cleaner,stacks,and rear rims and tires the biggest modifications were made to the cab I used testors green & gold metallic, flat white, and rustoleum tan I was around 8 years old when he purchased this truck I could only find one picture of this truck the rest is what I could remember I hope that I done it justice 10

leafsprings2 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Beautiful build, you captured the look and feel perfectly. Not easy to do this conversion, you have my respect, I've been begging for a resin mid 60's freightliner cab for years for us lower skilled builders. What did you use for the fender lip?

Well I don’t consider myself a higher grade builder just a guy with a lot of patience, I used some leftover fire hose from an ALF pumper kit for the mud guard around the fenders. I learned a lot from tips from Charles and Greg when I built the “63” ford pumper
