TooOld Posted May 23 Posted May 23 This 1/25th scale Mean Maverick uses a Multi-Maverick body and an AMT Cougar Funny Car Chassis , also the wheels/tires , headers , valve covers , and various other parts were sourced from other kits . The Multi-Maverick body has been heavily modified to match the original Mean Maverick . After studying photos of the Mean Maverick I came to realize that it's not even close to a stock Maverick body , in fact the only areas that weren't modified are the rear window and the trunk lid (although the twin spoilers were added to the trunk ). It was much more work than expected ! Paint is Tamiya TS-31 Bright Orange and the chassis is Testors Purplelicious , and I printed my own decals using a darker purple for the stripes to match the chassis . I also tinted the windows purple by spraying them first with Tamiya Clear Red then with Clear Blue . The finished body was cleared with TS-13 . Thanks for lookin' ! 14
Chris V Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Absolutely spectacular build!!! You've perfectly captured the vibe of the classic seventies' Monogram kit - ironically with parts from the "wrong" manufacturer and scale 😉 This is one of the nicest models I've seen this year. Well done, sir!

Both decal sets are available from slixx . I can believe I never thought to use that body for a funny car oh the possibilities. Thanks so much for posting it looks great by the way. The MACH WON chassis would also be a great donor as those cougar kits are getting harder to find at a reasonable price. Not even to mention all of the extra parts left over for other projects.

If using the short wheelbase front fenders the Multi-Mav body is the same as the hard to find Jo-Han body , even the grille and bumpers are the same . I have a Jo-Han kit but "NO WAY" was I going to chop it into pieces for this build ! 1
