I've had this open for a while but I had to finish up another build.  The flip nose fits really well so I'm thinking I might keep it that way.  I do not like the way the rear tires stick out past the fenders for a street machine.  I will be removing the rag top.  I have these rear fenders from an old Monogram 1940 Ford pickup that would solve that problem but would require a lot modifications as they appear to stick out a little to much and are at a funny angle.  The wheels and tires came out of the Monogram '55 Chevy Bel Air Street Machine 2'1 kit.  I'm still in the thinking process on this one.

The rag top has been deleted.  I'll hit it with a little gray primer to see if there are any traces left of it.

Great job on the roof. The rear fender issue, maybe splice in a section of material to widen the original fenders? Just wanted to mention, you're one of the few men that I have noticed have furrier fingers than my own.

Thanks man.  Yup, still looking things over.  Never done anything like this.  I'd like to see someones tutorial on doing this.  I'm part Werewolf and that cut is from a coffee cup breaking in my hand yesterday when I was drying the cup out inside with a towel.

Good job on the top. I prefer that as well.

Thanks Robert.  I prefer it over trying tape off the rag top and paint it.

Cool build, I personally like the rear tires but it's your build man, do it how YOU like.

Thank's Elliot.  I like the rear tires sticking out if I was building a Gasser but I like the tires tucked up under the fender wells on a Pro Street.

Great start. I’ll enjoy watching this build. I like that you smoothed out the top - I think it looks much better.
We used to call these Pop’s here in the UK. One of the favourites amongst the UK hot rodding scene. They are tiny buy comparison to something like a ‘40 Ford. I always wanted to build one, but I’d settle for the 1:25 scale version if I ever find the kit.

Sonny is right about a version being called the Pop short for Popular here in the UK. My dad had a light green Anglia version that shared the same body. Not sure what the difference was. Engine power maybe? Ford also made a model named the Prefect that appeared to have a pop rear end but different front end styling.

The Pop and Anglia both became a great favourite with UK Rodders.

Thanks Sonny.  Yeah, it's a Great body style for a drag car or a Pro Street which is more of what I'm going for.  They are a little on the small side but still Bigger than the Fiat 695 SS drag car I recently built.  That was a hoot to build.

I appreciate the info Noel.  Seems like the Anglia body style was popular everywhere.  I'm going to have fun with this one.  If I don't get myself into trouble thinking to far outside the box 😁

I have my OG kit from 1970 and some partial kits I've acquired over the years. Somehow I got the flip nose and the doors to open at age 15.

I also have some pie wagons in the stash. They are both cool kits.

That's some pretty kewl stuff in the stash.  I got my flip nose fitting pretty good but not I thinking about the 572 Blown BBC I have and that would require cutting the hood.

Well...I got out the Dremel tool and knocked off the rear fenders on the body.  Now the tedious work of sanding the fenders off the 40 Ford PU to fit this body.

The 40 Ford PU fenders are now glued to the 51 Anglia body.  The fenders stick down past the body in the rear about 1/16" and will have to be sanded off. The jury is still out on how it looks.

Wow, I haven't seen this kit in ages. I think the last time I built it was the Skip's Drive in release sometime in the mid-to-late 80s.

That's a neat fix for those skinny rear fenders, I never would have thought of that!

Thanks DJ.  I wasn't to sure about the rear fenders until I did the mock-up.  Im now thinking more about that 572 Blown BBC withe the Tunnel Ram.  I'll need to build it and do another mock-up.

Zippi, just out of interest a father and son team Rod and Ian Knott used to do the UK Model Shows with their Motor Museum In Miniature. One of them actually converted the Anglia back into a standard factory stock road car. Have a look at their website for the Museum as there may be a picture somewhere in there. The site has lots of useful information on it for car model buildets generally too.

That looks really good. They resemble the shape of the fronts remarkably well. What has you "on the fence" on the look, If I may ask?

The engine bay on those is real tight. IIRC the kit engines were a 394 Olds with a hydro transmission.

I think an injected SBC might go well with no major slice 'n dice action. I have to dig mine out.
