Greg, when you first showed this gluebombed body I thought you were nuts. Why would you even bother with something in so bad shape when it's a super=common kit and you could easily pick up a fresh one anywhere on the cheap.

Now it all makes a kind of perverted sense. 🤪 👍👍👍

Well I'm late to the party again.  Wow, Greg, this looks like major fun.  Crazy body work.  What are you thinking for a chassis ?

I’m a cheapskate…I mean I’m frugal Steve.😳 I didn’t know if I could make this look decent or not??? Plus, I really don’t need anything other than the body shell, and I knew the guy at the flea market had at least a couple of these…so for a 5 buck investment….😬

Not very often I see something and think "dangeddy man, I wish I'd thought of that".

This is one of those times...   :D

You’re welcome to jump on the bandwagon Bill. You must have one in your stash?🙂

Thanks Jim! I haven’t figured that out yet. As usual, I’m making it up as I go along. I did buy a couple of small trusses to experiment with.🤷‍♂️ This will likely turn into another sporadic project.🥴

I've made ladder bars from those. It could work!

Since the roofline no longer extends to the rear of the car, I mixed up a large batch of Milliput yesterday and slathered it on this and another ‘36 ford am fiddling with…but that’s another story.😵‍💫 Today I did some shaping on the ‘Vette and shot a coat of primer on to see where I’m at.🧐

And I picked up an MPC ‘67 Vette at the last club meeting that will donate it’s rear diff and suspension. Still some fabrication to do for mounts, but at least the width should be OK.😎

Another round of putty, and it still needs more….mostly smoothing out now. I fixed up both of the A-Pillars that I replaced and re-scribed the door lines too.

I enlarged the rear window slightly and managed to make a rear window and a windsheild from clear plastic. I will eventually remake them, but at least I know I don’t need to vacu-form something.🙂

I also made a firewall and attached it and the interior to the floorpan. I can fish the whole assembly in and out of the body shell relatively easy, so now I can work on the two assemblies independently. I need to do a bit more shaping of the trans tunnel and then fill the voids with Milliput. Thanks for looking.🤓

Thank you all folks!🙂 I narrowed the front suspension assembly from a Revell ‘37 Ford, and after a bit of fiddling around managed to get the frame rails tentatively mounted somewhat symmetrically. I assembled the suspension with PVA a couple of weeks ago hoping it would be solid enough to get a stance mock-up to see where I’m at.  One side let loose so l’ll touch it up and let it dry well again.

Well I have been fiddling around with this trying to get the stance set. I glued a simple block and piece of wire to set the rear roughly where I want it.

IMG_0166.jpeg.b5ebbbe7be2726c331cc60ce8587c3d3.jpeg

then I put a 1/4” spacer under the frame rails which looked sort of like the rake I wanted. After trimming the shocks a tad to raise the spindles, I realized that there is no way I was going to get that rake without raising the entire front suspension.

So I zee’d the frame

I was quite happy with it until I put the engine back in and it sat on the oil pan with the tires about 1/8” off the bench.😳 So I lengthened the shocks a touch and got the wheels back down, but the engine is still pretty much on the ground. I had a ton-O-fun temporarily assembling the suspension and broke one shock completely off.🤯 I eventually drilled everything for 0.015” wire pins.

Next step (after a little break for my sanity) is to reduce the amount of “zee” and the rake. I may need to get some more Plastruct truss yet.😬 I may also hog out a little more of the trans tunnel to raise the engine slightly too.🤔
