Can-Con Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) With all the talk about the "Super Charger" and related issues of the kit I think it's time I finish this resto up. Plans are to simply make a good looking curbside build with the hood shut. Got it from a vendor at NNL East in 2007. Mostly intact but I had to find a correct '74 front bumper as the one on it was an earlier one molded in purple so it must have been from the funnycar kit. Not sure the front seats are the correct ones but I do have another set that match the back seat pleats. Gonna be white with black. The body was in really good shape and all the scripts were intact. Even still has some flash on it. 😁 The '74 bumpers with the correct bumper guards. Decided to go with the halo vinyl roof. Simple piece of stretched sprue across the top and I did the seams by laying down masking tape where they go and smearing a little putty against the edge, finishing it off with a little sanding. Leaves a nice more "in scale" seam. Dark green metallic paint. I think it was something from HOK but it was over 16 years ago so??? Love the color, wish I knew what it was. 😟 Last pics for now. Bumpers/grille have been replated and have been detail painted since these pics were taken. The emblems were foiled before paint and will stand out more after final polishing. Roof is simply semi-gloss white. Edited June 13 by Can-Con 13 1
Stef Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Wow, Steve, so glad you're back on this one! I loved your pics you posted last year or so, and it will be a pleasure to watch you finish this beauty. So glad everyone was able to inspire you! 1
dwc43 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Great looking car. I had a few of the real ones myself. Heavy, but still pretty fast with a big block in them. I want to get one of them and build the car from Burn Notice. Loved that car, even with all its incorrect parts on it. They painted the steering column and steering wheel white in the car on the show. I think they were trying to make the interior of the car cooler since it was filmed in Fla. and it's hot and humid down there. 2
catpack68 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Looking good Steve! I like the color and halo vinyl top.I really hope Round2 reissues the Super Charger kit. 1

FoMoCo66 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Very cool, where did you get the bumpers rechromed? I have a 66 falcon annual that the bumpers are almost silver. 1

Little Motor Kar Company did them but he retired last year. I see Spotlight Hobbies does replating now but I've never used them yet and haven't seen any posts from anyone who has so even though I do have confidence in them I can't honestly comment on their service. 1
CapSat 6 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Very nice so far- glad we could inspire you to finish this one. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product! 1

AMT68 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Can't go wrong with that color combination for that era. Looking forward to eventually seeing this one Under Glass. 1
Can-Con Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 A couple shots of where it's at right now. Not much progress as I'm concentrating on my Chevy pickup build. Trying to get it ready for a show in a couple weeks. But I will be back on this when the truck is finished. 😉 Not real happy with how the windshield tint is looking right now. Probably clean that up and probably darken the blue/green tint on both windows. Maybe even strip it and start again. Keep in mind it's not sitting right up where it would be when finished also. Needs some white letter tires, I think. Could also use a couple more passes with the Tamiya polish before foiling too. 4
