This reissue Garlits kit was a total blast. The Prudhomme car is the reissue from a few years ago when it was released as a Mongoose rail. Aftermarket decals and I could build both classic kits.

But the difference of just a handful of years, and Garlits making the rear engined car work made all the difference. Speeds increased and the worry about a flame out or supercharger in your face was now in the past, making them safer in that regard

So I purposely juxtaposed the cars with Garlits having the front engined digger and the Snake with a rear engined car.

Eventually I'll finish the Snake and Mongoose rear engined cars, but since they were both on my bench getting worked on I decided to look at em both.

What a difference a few years make.

Couple of good-looking rails. Maybe it's just not visible, but I do not see a drag-chute on the Prudhomme car.

You're quite right. That car is only about 80% done.

Here is the Mongoose car. It is about 40% done. I put the Prudhomme Wendy's Trans Am motor in it to see how it looks. The motor for this car is only 30% done. But the body and chassis are ready to go. The box top shot is the reissue kit I used for these builds. The current release will get you 100% of the way since the decal sheet is now provided and aftermarket is no longer necessary.

And yes, I enjoy scratch building K valves. Does anyone know if there is a resin one available?

As an aside. If anyone wants to build the Mongoose car on the boxtop I have 2 sheets available. Just ask and I'll send em.

Those look great! Your wiring & plumbing look much better than the supplied plastic wiring.
