Here is a ‘91 Geo Storm Promo from AMT that I painted and detailed. I wanted to keep it in its bare molded-in-color metallic teal, but it had some noticeable flow swirls in the plastic so I decided to paint it this Rust-O Gloss “Golden Sunset” yellow.
IMG_1127.jpeg.d7f42c289d2c0aa2f9dff4c57fe307d2.jpegThe windows are molded in a dark gray tint, which made the black-molded interior disappear. I painted it in a two-tone gray (Krylon) similar to the factory option, which makes the interior visible now.

This car was begging for some ‘90s swoosh graphics, so I robbed the set from a ‘90s-issue AMT ‘40 Ford (the one with the horribly dull beige box art). Luckily the old decals held up and laid down beautifully.

I’d love to pick up a modern one for my work commute, especially as a cheap sporty EV. I miss the Mazda MX3 I had briefly in high school, and the Ford Escort ZX2 I had in college! IMG_1144.jpeg.1520298f0e7ad9391e1bd4af87959cd4.jpeg

Great looking paint finish and color, the graphics fit the model and time period.

Nice work! Getting that promo apart is the hard part!

We had a red Storm bought with 120.000 miles on it for my older daughter’s first car. It performed flawlessly.  Then it became a family spare car until my younger daughter started to drive. I drove it to work once a week. Then it was her car for a few years until she spied a Celica convertible she wanted!  I did sell the Storm for about what I paid for it 8 years later.

I'm digging it. Great color for the car, and I like the painted wheels. Good call on redoing the interior so you can actually see it!

As one of my favorite cars of the 1990s, I always wondered why AMT didn't release the unassembled promo as a Snap Fast kit.
