89AKurt Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Today at an auction in Prescott (first for this company and location). It's on a Fiero that has been lengthened in front. LS engine. 5
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) I've always kinda liked those. Looks like an early '70s Cougar and a Fiero got together... LS swaps in late model Fieros make pretty fine little cars, so if this thing was built well, it should be fast and capable...though I don't expect the added length does much to improve handling.. espo Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Like the LS engine swap and the body changes. Used to see a few Fieros with the Cadillac OHV V-8s done. 1
stitchdup Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I like that more than i probably should. It could make for a fun ride with a japanese v6 of some sort. maybe toyota using one of the conversion kit for the mr2 so you can swap the whole suspension too and open up a world of aftermarket tuning parts but even the stock 280hp would be fun. It would live up to its french nickname then, lol 1

Already oriented for a transaxle and 302 HP in the impala. 2

Russell C Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Learn somethin' every day. Can't guess how many times I did random millisecond glances at these on the internet and ignored them because I assumed they were just some odd kitcar customized iterations of a 1990s front engine Buick Riviera. Never saw one that I can recall where any were shown with some other car or a nearby person that would indicate what size these actually are. Now I like these much better. 1
iamsuperdan Posted June 16 Posted June 16 If I remember correctly, Zimmer even got the Quicksilver on the cover of Car And Driver. Was a legit company. Not sure how many the actually made though. Guessing the cost was quite high. 2

There was a magazine in the display, I just don't take many pictures anymore. Choice of GM or Honda must be a regional, or cultural thing. In my town of mostly well off retired folks, mixed with younger school age (Embry Riddle University, Prescott College, Yavapai College age) it's mostly old American iron. There were some very nice Hondas with Acura engines. Another thread y'all talking about engine swaps on Fieros. My opinion, they killed it when it finally got upgraded. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted June 19 Posted June 19 (edited) Engine? Who cares about the engine? Look at this thing! The face only a mother could love... And don't get me started on the Fiero. I worked for the company back then and the bean counters ran the place. The 84 was an absolute dog. Who else would be dumb enough to invest in a mid engine chassis... then equip it with an Iron Duke engine, X-car suspension, undersized brakes and a 4 speed Muncie. Then the engineers went into the typical slow remediation process, fighting with the bean counters for every little fix the car so badly needed. By the time the car accumulated a decent V6 + 5 sp Getrag + revised suspension + vented discs it was 1988, and it was then time to kill the program. I hate the GM bean counters... iamsuperdan Posted June 19 Posted June 19 There it is! I still have a couple of boxes of C&D mags from the 80s. I'm pretty sure this is in there.
WillyBilly Posted Monday at 11:10 PM Posted Monday at 11:10 PM I wonder if it is a RWD LS, or a LS4 which is designed for FWD duty. Cool car. I prefer Fiero's to be stock in appearance, but I like the Zimmer better than those fake Lamborghini kit cars.
