WillyBilly Posted Monday at 11:22 PM Posted Monday at 11:22 PM (edited) I drive a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys , and a 2014 Cadillac ATS4 3.6 Performance sedan. Both are fun to drive. The Caddy is not the fastest thing I have driven, or owned, but it cures my itch to go fast with a mid 5 second 0-60, and 13.88 to 13.99 seconds in the 1/4 mile. It is equipped with a 321 hp DOHC V6, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, ZF steering and sticky Michelins. The jeep is my go-to for most everything else. Edited Wednesday at 08:10 AM by WillyBilly 2
Tyreman Posted Tuesday at 12:55 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:55 AM (edited) Sadly nothing! i am 52 in the UK with a clean driving license...I have a disability no fault of mine and currently unable to work...so legal in the UK for insurance companys to charge more than double insurance...mine went up almost 5x £250 to £1,100 for a junker! now cheaper to get a taxi every journey..i can not get classic car insurance because i need to have a daily car insurance to qualify...i can not even visit the USA because i am refused travel insurance...so i may as well be from the middle east! it is the main reason i build models now... 1:1 over for the near future for me Edited Tuesday at 01:05 AM by Tyreman 1
iamsuperdan Posted Tuesday at 12:56 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:56 AM Yes, I do drive this beast daily. And when I want to fit in a parking lot or use a Tim Hortons drive thru, I always have our old trusty '06 Volvo XC90. Or the '99 Thaoe LT project. Wifey currently driving a2016 Kia Soul. The boy has a 2004 Lincoln Aviator. Our daughter just got her license, so she'll probably inherit the Volvo. Or we'll sell the Volvo, give her the Kia, and then wifey gets a new vehicle. Fun times. 3

Zoom Zoom Posted Tuesday at 12:31 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:31 PM (edited) Recently bought my sister's 2012 Lexus RX 350. Is it exciting to look at or drive? Nope, not in the least. That's kind of the point at this point in my life! It has been regularly and overly maintained at her Lexus dealer. She was surprised back in 2023 when she started thinking of replacing the RX that I told her I wanted it. It's a quiet, comfortable and incredibly well made, and so far after 166k miles the only thing outside of regular maintenance that it's required was a new pair of tailgate struts. It needs some cosmetics but literally drives like a new car. My mechanic (Mazda, Toyota/Lexus only) told me how good these things are, and he's already looked it over when it got an oil change. He kept my former Protege5 in good shape, he daily drives a white P5 like mine. I don't doubt I can be reasonably sure I can get another 100,000+ miles on the Lexus, she got well over 300k on her early-production '99 RX 300 and it was considerably more needy along the way than this RX 350 has been. I was a bit concerned that the Protege5 might run into parts unavailability due to age, even though it was still a perfectly reliable (and fun-to-drive) car at 23 years old. Might have kept it if it had a manual transmission... The Lexus is one of those cars that's ubiquitous for a reason, they are incredibly well made and engineered to last. I've done 3 long road trips so far (it was a 510 mile trip to get it home) and it just eats the miles and without fatigue. I've never previously owned such a common vehicle. I see 25 year old OG RX 300's on a daily basis, on Sunday I was behind one that still looked like a new car. I'm a bit surprised how much I really like this Lexus, it's just so quietly competent and feels like it'll last forever. Time will tell on that. Since it's a common car I don't want to try to tell it apart from another in a parking lot, so far I've added an Atomic City sticker in back given to me by my old friend Jack Higgins and a "Beware of Harrier" tag in front, since this thing was available in Japan as a Toyota Harrier. I have the Aoshima Harrier kit to play with, though I don't plan to build it stock since it's a RHD Harrier, so I can have some "what-if" fun with the build, though my track record of building my 1:1 cars is poor, only finishing my black '88 Mustang LX 5.0 sedan before any resin was even available. I need to build my Tamiya Lexus LS400 that just got reissued, and I've got the ZoomOn champagne glasses for the hood that Lexus advertised on a 100k mile example at 140 MPH on the dyno 😎 I'd love to own a real one, but will stick w/ building models / going to car shows to scratch the 1:1 itch. Too much traffic everywhere regardless. Now I know why SUV's/CUV's are so popular...I can see down the road much better and I have suspension that smooths out all the bumps and craters on the unkempt roads that are everywhere. Moved south 49 years ago to billiard-smooth roads. That sadly is no longer the case...especially in SC & TN where I travel to/through with regularity. Below are photos I used to (easily) sell my Protege5 recently on Marketplace. Owned it 12 years (previous owner meticulously maintained it), put 101k miles on it, sold it at 170k, everything worked and it was stupid fun to drive around town, and a decent highway cruiser since the driver's seat was 8-way adjustable. Still a good-looker, hard to watch it drive off w/the new owner. I added NC1 16" Miata wheels to it, really looked sharp. Edited Tuesday at 12:33 PM by Zoom Zoom 2

Ace-Garageguy Posted Tuesday at 02:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:15 PM (edited) I just won't spend much on daily transportation. I recently purchased a one-family-owned (real car people) '96 Blazer 2wd 4dr, well maintained but not perfect. Runs and drives like new except for the inop AC (works fine but leaks refrigerant) which is OK by me, as I have no heat-intolerant offspring or wives to deal with, and I prefer having the windows down most of the time if it's not raining or really cold anyway. 15MPG in town, about 20 on the highway. Even handles decent for a top-heavy SUV. Heavily optioned when new, including leather, and the interior is still quite nice. Practical little hauler in town, surprisingly comfortable on the road, one of my favorite all time vehicles. As good as this thing is, I'm surprised I don't see more of them...though there seem to be a fair few of the pickups still running. Like this but different. The '89 GMC longbed 5-speed single-cab fleet stripper still runs fine too. Another one of my all-time favorites, mostly because she has so much heart. Saved her from the crusher for $100, did the top of the engine and a timing chain, a radiator, and after 10 years another new battery, and she just runs and runs and runs. I did have to replace the failed EFI with a 60-year-old 2bbl carb, but she gets the same fuel economy as before, and still starts on the first turn of the key after sitting for weeks. Her engine is getting a little tired (300,000 plus now), but I have another 305 on the stand that just needs to be resealed, so she'll most likely run forever. Two people have crashed into her since I got her maybe 15 years ago, and she has surface rust where the infamous self-stripping GM paint has done its thing, but I have everything to make her pretty again too. Only thing I don't like is her lack of posi, but it's only been an issue once, so... Like this, but on the cheap steel wheels. Just an old truck, and a good one. webestang Posted Tuesday at 03:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:22 PM 99 Mustang V6. My Pop bought her new. Then my nephew owned it for a few years while in college. Then I got it from him in 2017. Sold my Crown Vic so this is my daily.
Rob Hall Posted Tuesday at 03:32 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:32 PM I work out of my house, so only drive a few times a week. I've got my '19 Cadillac CT6 for my primary--love it for a road trip car--very smooth, fast, great stereo, all the creature comforts. I have a '14 Jeep Grand Cherokee for trips to the grocery, hardware store, hauling stuff and getting around in the winter. And I've got my '87 Mustang GT for the occasional weekend drive on nearby backroads. Probably will add another car in a couple years--a modern performance car of some sort. 3

Wasted way too much $$$ on car payments/insurance decades ago. Haven't financed a car in over 20 years. My financed nearly-new '90 SHO was in the shop so many times it broke me of the habit, even though warranty covered everything and I got free loaner cars. Now I like to buy a good quality inexpensive used car for cash and keep it a long time. When I bought my Protege5 the previous owner handed me all the service receipts from Jim Ellis. Those records plus my records made it's recent sale easy, plus it looked more like a 5 year old car from being garage kept and being a southern car only it had zero rust. My depreciation over 149 months worked out to $18.79/mo. Spent a bit more than that on maintenance and a few repairs, but fuel was by far the most expensive thing it consumed, about $78/mo. 1
DaveB Posted Tuesday at 07:20 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:20 PM (edited) 2011 Dodge Dakota, have owned one from each generation. Truck spent most of its life in FL so pretty rust free. Edited Tuesday at 07:22 PM by DaveB 2
Calb56 Posted Tuesday at 07:32 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:32 PM 2006 Xb. My box has under 112k. my wife drives a 2017 Crosstrek, under 35k. 2" lift, skid plates underneath from engine to rear differential. Modded by my son. It could definitely go much more offroad than she's willing to take it 2

PHPaul Posted Thursday at 09:32 AM Posted Thursday at 09:32 AM (edited) Toy: 1990 ZR1, 6 speed manual. Not a rocket, but plenty of fun. (Yes, I fixed the wheels. PO had tires rotated without regard to the directional wheels) Work: 2024 F250XL. Thirsty, but a towing beast! 6.8L "minizilla" engine. Grocery Getter: 2020 RAV4. Upgrade from 2012 Corolla that I gave to my daughter to replace her clapped out/unsafe Pontiac G6 Edited Thursday at 09:34 AM by PHPaul 1
Pierre Rivard Posted Thursday at 01:00 PM Posted Thursday at 01:00 PM Most people prefer SUV's but I'll stick to sedans while there are still a few of them being produced. My daily driver is a 2024 Volvo S60 T8 PHEV. Sadly Volvo just announced it will no longer sell it in North America. Another sedan bites the dust. I can drive 70km on battery (I rarely exceed that on a daily basis) before it turns into a hybrid. Sport mode produces a nice 455hp/525lb.ft 2

Just outside of Osoyoos, BC you will come across Sasquatch Trail. They put up a statue of one of the local residents. A lot of the roads in this area have statues of the things they're name of. Cougar Court, Waipiti Road, etc. It's just down the road from Anarchist Place. 1
