Deathgoblin Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Just finished this one. The paint is Duplicolor, no clear just polished color, interior is Citadel Wraithbone and a mixed color for the darker tan. Whitewalls are hand-painted. 16
Deathgoblin Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 Oh forgot! I cut the interior tub apart and detailed it, made the window cranks and door handles.
Jim B Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Great looking Mercury. Very well done. I tried building this kit, but after multiple paint disasters, I just put it back in the box.
Chuckyg1 Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Wait, a stock 49!? Nice build nice color choice and interior. I like the details in the engine bay.
stavanzer Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Great Build! We forget now just how shiny cars really were 70-80 years ago. They were shiny of course, but nothing like the miles deep gloss we see to day. Your Factory stock paint job looks perfect! I like that shade of Blue too. Nice Detail on the interior. Good Show.
papajohn97 Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Fabulous job on this "rarely built stock" classic. I'm particularly impressed with the work you did on the interior tub re-build/ door panels/ window cranks. Too bad it's a hard top and not a convertible! It's amazing how good some of these old tooled AMT kits are. The molds for this Merc were built in 1963, the equally excellent AMT shoebox '49 Ford molds were made in 1962. Makes one wonder how many products are manufactured for +60 years off of the original tooling!
ncbuckeye67 Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Beautiful work! I love the color combination (that interior is especially nice).
Falcon Ranchero Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Looks good; not very often we get to see a stock 1949 Mercury.
Rattlecan Dan Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Great historical and natural look to this build. Nice work.
espo Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Great factory looking paint color and finish. Like the interior details.
