A mix of things, including a bunch of Pyros!

At the start of June, my local club, IPMS London (in Ontario, Canada) hosted it’s biannual model show. It was a fun event, as always, and the Vendors’ Room gave up a considerable stash of interesting and unusual kits!

From Giant Robots to ‘30s Cars and a few weird planes for good measure, I managed to snag some stuff that I think will interest almost anybody.

Pyros were great. I recall building a 1952 Chevy and a 1940 Ford.

As always, it's an interesting and entertaining read.  I'd choose the Pyro Imperial roadster as my favorite.  The BMW Celica has to be one of the most bizarre kits of an almost-stock car.  

The first kit I built was a Pyro '37 Chevy coupe molded in green plastic.

Pretty cool Pyro grab. The red and green ones might look nice with polished plastic and the necessary detail painting, such as chrome details, and black tires with whitewalls when appropriate. I built a bunch of the old Chevy and Ford Pyro kits as a kid.

Pyro really shined with their brass era kits. I had a Pyro Renault Town Car when I was around 9 or 10, back in 70-71 when they were still in stores. Mine was molded in blue, and I recall it being a really nice kit. Someday, I'd like to take another stab at one.

Had a lot of Pyro kits over the years; some better than others (flat-nosed '49 Ford for example). Sure wish I hadn't cut up that '52 Chevy wagon back in the day.

BMW Celica? never heard of that car. and google just wants me to buy a new car when I search for it.

  For anyone interested, Burbank's House of Hobbies has several Pyro kits from a collection in stock.  Not cheap, but fairly reasonable.

I just ordered the Pyro 1/32 Bugatti and Mercedes SSK from guys on ebay over the weekend.  

I recently finished the Pyro Alfa Romeo.  It had some unique challenges but it turned out pretty nice.  I'll post some pics when I get off my duff and get the camera out.

Give one of these a try.  The subjects are great and with some minor scratchbuilding and aftermarket parts you can add something a little different to your collection.

I've yet to build one, but man, I am addicted to them. They look very challenging, at least the '30s cars, but the Brass ones, I agree, they look AMAZING. I have a bunch of them... maybe I should get Pyro session going? Life-Like reissues are just about as good, but they don't plate their parts. Since I strip my plating, I don't care, but it doesn't look as good in the box. 

Wait until you see the Highway Pioneers 1907 Sears I am working on, if you like weird old stuff!

They only Pyro I haven't liked is the 1948 Lincoln; it's very piece-y, and a weird, glassless build to boot. Not sure I'll build that one ever, to be honest.

Pyro.   I liked their  old classic ships kits too! Some quite unique to Pyro.
