Monty Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) A couple recent Google searches yielded pics (no other info) of a car that really stood out to me, mostly because of the paint. I'd love to find something as close as possible in hobby paint (enamel or lacquer) if possible. Edited August 5 by Monty Can't find a way to post amazing red C3 Corvette
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) I'd like to know what you find, as the Eddie Dye roadster, fairly recently brought back from the dead, is finished in something similar...and I have one in-progress but stalled. Edited August 5 by Ace-Garageguy
stitchdup Posted August 5 Posted August 5 house of kolor brandywine over a gunmetal and gold mix base should get you close. this is it over bright gold, not a great pic but it got the colour right. the spraycan is just to block most of the flash, and has no relevance to the colour 1
Monty Posted August 6 Author Posted August 6 Also nice, thanks for posting! Really wish I could find a way to show you guys the incredibly gorgeous red C3 Corvette that stood out on a page full of red C3 Corvettes.
NOBLNG Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) That is a beautiful car and a beautiful colour! More of a burgundy though i think. Maybe Tamiya TS-11 Maroon with a pearl clear or clear red top coat? Edited August 6 by NOBLNG
JollySipper Posted August 6 Posted August 6 On this old build, I used Dark Garnet Red Pearl DupliColor over gray primer......... 1 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 6 Posted August 6 For what it's worth (not much) the color on the original Eddie Dye roadster from the early '50s was a custom mix called "Cherry Orchid" IIRC, and supposedly there is only one surviving color photo of the car as was. I don't know how the restorers/rebuilders (much of the car was scattered and lost and had to be recreated from scratch) came up with the color on the current version. Also for what it's worth, the color on JollySipper's '60 Ford above is Duplicolor EBCC04137 Perfect Match Automotive Spray Paint – Chrysler Dark Garnet Red Pearl, Chrysler Corp. color code PRV/XRV 2
espo Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Another paint option to consider would be GM's Dark Cherry Pearl. This color was originally for the 1996 Impala SS but may have found its way to other models as well. The old Model Master #28113 may be a match for what you're looking for. 1
