Brudda Posted Sunday at 07:07 PM Posted Sunday at 07:07 PM 1964 monogram GTO. Chassis is painted black with sem trim black. The spindles were made from evergreen plastic to lower the car. The rear suspension springs were cut to lower the car. Had to cut the exhaust from the rear differential. Easy to lower this car. The body was sanded and the door handles and wipers were sanded off. Drilled a very small hole to locate door handles and door locks. Also drilled the holes for the wipers. Trimmed the seam lines with 400 and sanded the whole body with a gold scotch brite pad. Primed with tamiya grey primer. Painted the base color black pearl from diamont then urethane cleared . Sanded with 2000 grit. Rubbed her out and then polished. The engine is testors acrylic bottle paints thru a iwatta air brush. Mixed it to get the color as close to a 1974 GTO as best as possible. Also used testors bottle gold and silver. The white overflow bottle is testors white. Molotow chrome to touch up chrome parts in the engine bay. The bumpers are painted revell chrome. Used a model car garage pe set for emblems and steering wheel. Grill also. Wheels are jays resins. And the engine wires are from pro tech. Wipers and door handles were robbed from a revell foose impala kit. Made a very big novice mistake, did not inventory parts. Missing hood scoop inserts, red tail lamps and clear headlamps. But the foose impala had missing parts. Had to make the hood inserts out of evergreen. I bought the kit for $10 at a swap meet. The interior is painted with tamiya tan with clear orange then flat clear. To give it that sexy Ferrari look. I guess it is a GTO LOL. For a slump buster build I’m pretty happy with her. Hope you guys like. 16
Brudda Posted Sunday at 07:22 PM Author Posted Sunday at 07:22 PM I would like to thank johnnyrotten and. NOBLING for giving me heads up on the kit. It has a few problems. But these guys made the build go a lot smoother! Thank you 1
Shark Posted Sunday at 07:39 PM Posted Sunday at 07:39 PM Great looking build. I have that kit but didn't do anything with it because of hearing everything poor mouthing it. You gave me some future inspiration. 1
Musclecarbuilder Posted Sunday at 09:56 PM Posted Sunday at 09:56 PM Dude it looks fabulous! Wonderful job! 1
espo Posted Sunday at 10:46 PM Posted Sunday at 10:46 PM Beautiful paint finish and color. Clean body trim. Like the engine detailing and the wheels & tires along with the stance. 1
STU111 Posted Sunday at 11:13 PM Posted Sunday at 11:13 PM The wheels, the colour, the stance. It all combines beautifully to make a sweet looking GTO. Lots to like about this one. 👍🏻 1
TooOld Posted yesterday at 09:29 AM Posted yesterday at 09:29 AM Geautiful paint and excellent detailing , well done Bruce ! If I may make one suggestion . . . The mold parting line on top of the radiator is one of the most obvious and overlooked details , it should be removed . 1

But since this is a slump buster build. It will stay in.
SpikeSchumacher Posted yesterday at 03:50 PM Posted yesterday at 03:50 PM Very nicely done, Bruce! Really love the color on this one. 1

Ok Too Old, showed the model to a friend who is a club president and he has been a head judge for IPMS events and pointed that out immediately. So since he has bugged me to death about the seam in the radiator, I fixed it. Supposed to be a slump buster build which is not supposed to be a contest build but since he said it could be a contest winner if it wasn’t for that seam. Soooo I fixed it. Here is a pic of it fixed. Still see a slight line but it is considerably better. Wasn’t going to enter it in a contest but now I’m going to just to see what it will do. 1

I never meant that you had to remove the radiator and fix it , just making a friendly suggestion for next time . But now that you did fix it . . . WOW what a difference ! Good luck in the contest , you've got a winner there ! 1
