It has taken Revell FOREVER to bring the Lambo to market.  And wow, the Japanese manufacturers have, for the most part, given up on producing non-Japanese cars.  The only companies producing cool stuff, at least to me, are Tamiya (somewhat), Alpha Models, and the aftermarket such as USCP or 3d designers.

Actually one of the blockbuster announcements at the show is that Aoshima has obtained a Ferrari license and plans to use it in their 1/32 Snap Kit line starting with a 512BBi. No idea if that will ever translate into 1/24, or how many total 1/32 kits the license is supposed to entail at this point.

You gotta think the 1/24 market is bigger than the 1/32, so it would baffle me to not produce 1/24 scale models if they have the license.

I really thought Tamiya would’ve got the Ferrari licence back by now. Hopefully we see current Ferraris produced by Aoshima such as the 499P.

Personally, I'm disappointed that they aren't producing more Japanese SUVs! Aoshima has the 1st gen Terrano and the 2nd Gen Hilux Surf, and Tamiya has the 2nd gen Pajero, Land Cruiser 80, and Isuzu VehiCross but it would be cool to see some others like the 3rd gen Hilux Surf/4Runner, the 2nd gen Terrano/Pathfinder, the 1st and 3rd gen Pajero/Montero, the 1st and 2nd gen Isuzu Mu/Amigo/Rodeo, the Daihatsu Rocky, a better version of the 2nd gen Isuzu Trooper (plus the 1st gen), and a proper 1/24 kit of the FJ40 Land Cruiser.

That one baffles me, cus such an iconic vehicle which put Toyota on the map in all terrain vehicles worldwide.

So yes would very much to have a full detail kit of this one, as the old Esci is showing it's age and shortcomings.

A new model kit of North American subjectmatter by a foreign kitmaker for instance, wouldn't make any sense, due to imposed and variable tarrifs. I guess the Japanese industry rather wants to play save, plus their domestic market is also their primary market, the rest is just extra gravy.

Anyway, I'm happy with the announcement of the BMW.

It doesn't and there isn't...not in that way.

It would take so much retooling to put an engine into it, or for that matter to put a full chassis under it that it would cheaper and easier to start with a whole new tool. Which if they were going to do that, they would have just released a glue kit and been done with it. They flooded their own market with Mustangs with all the kits they released between 2006 and 2013 and each one sold progressively worse. It's why it took so long to get a C8 Corvette, why there was never any update to the Camaro or Challenger tools. All of them became dead stock on shelves for years after they were taken out of the catalog.

As I said before the 06-13 gen Mustang was North American only, but this one is sold thru the regular Ford distribution network in Europe too. I think I remember Belgium per catipa being a leader in Mustang sales.

The only American ICE cars, on our roads, the others being trucks with the Dodge Ram as leaders, but that market is drying up as a result of a fiscal reform.

Re Aoshima obtaining Ferrari License

My hope is as writtrn above that they do 1/24-25 kits

And they do also some of the classics.

  The first LM win for Ferrari

 

- the 375 coupe' -53

The typical fifties racing coupe'.

 

- the 250 Pininfarina  coupe'  1959

The first Ferrari built in something  similar to series production.

Very elegant in a restrained and dignified way.

 

- The 250 / 275 P mid engine roadster 1963-64

Yes in the old days there was the Monogram 275 P slot car. But long gone.

 

- the 275 GTS,  very elegant convertible.

With respect Luc I'm not basing my opinions on the pictures, I've seen it live in person at the IPMS Nats in Virginia several weeks ago. I'm telling you there's no full detail glue kit derivative of this kit because it would require an entirely new chassis, interior and body. Those big giant lug holes on the firewall/scuttle panel is how the interior snaps on from underneath, and the hood snaps onto the body.

Aoshima SnapCar (1/24) line continues with the upcoming (this month) release of 4 different colored Evo IIIs. Three "regular" and one with a Initial D branding.

Coming November is the release of a NiSMO Nissan Z in three colors.

Upcoming Belkits Toyota Gazoo Racing Rally Car. Belkits has said that the final tweaks are being made to the instructions and decals and they expect the kit to go into production next month and shipped out to Belkits before Christmas. So it should be available in Late December or Early January.

The new Peugeot 205 GTI from Heller. This kit should be going on sale in Europe with the next few weeks.

Looking forward to that one too. Oh where are the days of the Hot Hatches...there wasn't a weekend that went by without one ending up wrapped around a tree.

BTW, Glad they didn't do the doors in clear plastic.

Very interesting how Aoshima has gone all in on the snap kits, the 1/32 series is massive and the 1/24 series continues to rapidly expand.

I guess the JDM are the main sales of those kits. Can understand why they are popular being quick easy builds with no paint required.

 

Aoshima and Hasegawa seem to be leading the way for the future of the hobby
