iamsuperdan Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Remember when Ferrari made attractive cars? All of these new Ferraris just leave me feeling flat. I'm sure they're amazing to drive, but part of the appeal of a Ferrari was that it was a sexy beast to look at. And it's gettingt worse. Just look at the brand new Testarossa. 2

Yeah, just like with other things in today's world, esoteric car manufacturers (and even large regular passenger car manufacturers) have jumped the shark. I see this kind of thing all around me. Do we really need 20 varieties of Oreo cookies, not even counting all the "Limited Editions". Or dozen flavors of Coke or Pepsi? seems that every time I go grocery store, there is a new variety of something available. This extends to other product ranges too. Sometimes too-much is too-much.
Exotics_Builder Posted September 14 Posted September 14 As regards the first post. The Amalfi is a just announced, so no kit yet. An F12 TdF may be available from Alpha, but otherwise just a Burago diecast at the moment. Alpha also has a 12 Cilindri GTS, but I did not get that. 1
Brudda Posted September 18 Author Posted September 18 I saw these in person and was not entirely excited. They looked ok but I like the old pininfarina designs. But I grew up with the old designs. This was the first time I saw millionaires working for billionaires. I’m just a mere peasant. One guy not even 40 years old said he will buy 2. One for him and his wife. Cool 1 million. Had the money wired transferred in a second. So you may not like it , but the billionaires like it so Ferrari caters to them , not us. The Ferrari p3-4 is what I like but it’s not 1967.

I thought it was $3000 at cringed at that but Ron the mechanic said look again. It was $30,000 a very different and unique lifestyle.
Xingu Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Some of the ugly parts are what keep the car on the road at 200 mph. 95% of the owners will never come anywhere close to that.
Codi Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Bruce, first let me say that you have exquisite taste. I am no fan of the latest iterations of Ferrari's. There is only one in the current line-up that I consider as true to Ferrari's past designs / signature and that's the 296 GTB.........their least expensive model no less. The others all look contrived......."busy". The latest Testarossa design is atrocious to my way of thinking. I can see 512 elements in it, but there is so much wrong overall that I can't begin to like it. Design should be simple & purposeful and remain pleasing to the eye. Ferrari seems to have lost their way for a while now. The last great looking mid-engine cars were the 458 & 488 models IMO. I owned a 355 and then a 360 years ago and thought they were fantastic.......now, not so much. Cheers, Tim

I didn’t care it was just great to see on the track

And to me IMO that first ones grill looks like an afterthought.

Looks like tin foil between the rear grill panel and the exhaust. You guys know what it’s for , so the rear grill panel won’t melt. For a car that is a lot of money , this soured the car for me. Looks like an after thought. Took it around the track and the grill panel was melted on the exhaust. This is Ferrari, they are right and we’re not.
Codi Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Bruce, and that's on an SP3 Daytona correct? Sheesh is all I can say........the last time Ferrari were "right" was the last year Schumacher was still part of the F1 team. Boy am I dating myself now or what? (rhetorical) cheers, tim
