I just started this amt 40 willys this weekend. I did a couple of modifications to this kit to make it my own. I drilled out the front axle and added brackets to make it steerable, shortened the bed 1/4", and did a lot of sanding on the nose, as well as making the fender 1 peice instead of part cut off at the cab. All of this and it makes a much better gasser stance and aditude. On the engines behalf, I chose to use the Olds mil but had to make a few changes, the blower body (not the ends, those are kit pieces) is from the parts box (just a little longer), that is to fit the 4 pot hilborn style injection from the moebius 65 chevy II, and lastly the blower hat from the chevy II kit as well.20250920_081245.jpg.e080b792b632fe4f47c93ea0a12b70c5.jpg20250921_214804.jpg.2acee10ee93a4f863213c7a889dd8bf6.jpg

Thanks for lookin'

Very nice start! The shorter bed has much better proportions and it looks better with the little running boards ahead of the rear fenders deleted. I also really like the front fender and supercharger mods! 😎

Thank you very much Dennis. Glad it looks right to more than just me. I also totally forgot to mention the running board delete, good eye🧐.

Ditto on the solid start! I like the proportions and that engine has presence.

Thanks man. I really like the look of the moebius 65 4 pot hilborn style injection and scoop, and what do you know, it fits perfectly 👌.

Looking good, really like the mods.  :D

I've always loved this kit but never built one for some reason...though I have a not too bad gloobomb that could be a winter project.

I got the front suspension really close to completetion tonight. The axle is glued to the springs, I still need to add some u-bolt detail though. Next up, I took the kit steering link and chopped of the piece that connects the spindle to the steering link, that means I had to make my own that is attached to the spindle. All that was left to do was pin the steering link. Now they all function together, and I'm proud to say the geometry all looks correct!20250922_211438.jpg.c8d130d57b4cc471b09545b8403368cd.jpg20250922_211458.jpg.207331772b439ffd115bb5137c73bf5b.jpg20250922_211643.jpg.b71dc70271af7f4995c52104e81d90c8.jpg

Hey man, nows a better time than never, you know what I mean B). The kit has a lot of really good vintage speed parts in it. One wierd thing about the original is the wheels, they were all the same depth all around (like 2 sets of rear wheels). This is the older coke release of this kit so it has the Gasser wheel combo that I think might be my most favorite kit wheels ever! Wait, why am I telling you this, you probably already know it :D.

Anyway, thanks Ace!

When comparing this kit to Revell’s 41 Willys Pickup, one area I much prefer about the Revell is the short bed and more abbreviated fenders. Now I’m wondering how this would look with a larger radius on the front outer corners of the fenders?

Nice work making the wheels steer!
