This '47 Chevrolet was purchased brand new by George Anderson, and today belongs to his great grandson Aaron Sullivan. There was a period of decades where the car left the possession of the Anderson family, and Aaron's dad Luke found the car sitting in a partially collapsed corn crib in the early 2000's. After he'd owned it for a couple decades, he handed it off to Aaron and told him to have fun.

To that end, the car was treated to a Krylon paint job, a completely rebuilt chassis, and a tunnel ram Chevrolet big block from Luke's long-gone '67 Malibu drag car. Aaron is planning on a more mild engine and a better paint job for the future, but if he has his way, Great Grandpa's old Chevy isn't leaving the family again anytime soon.

This is the Galaxie Limited kit. I bought it years ago to rob the wheels and tires and engine for another project. I filled in the blanks with the wheels and tires from the AMT '60 F100 and the tunnel ram dual quad big block from the AMT '67 Malibu pro street. The paint is an ancient can of Krylon Camouflage Olive Drab.

Nailed that look! I love the olive drab ... such a period color for this! Gives the whole, let's go drag main!!

Did you have to do much grinding on the inner fenders for that Tunnel Ram?

And where did you get those wheels? Seeing that wheel combination on it, makes me want that same style for the 47 Couple I have that is going to be a low rider with .. .a 409 Tunnel Ram.

Chuck, that's cool!! I can easily imagine it at the end of the Famoso drag strip, in the runoff area. That strip in Bakersfield is out in the country. There's an annual car show with similar rods for the March Meet.
