ismaelg Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Hello, First a little history: About a year ago I was discussing Grand Sports with Robert Wheeler, (the othe Corvette guy, robertw in this forum). then the December '05 issue of Corvette Fever magazine was dedicated to Grand Sports and some GS clones, including a C5 and a C6. So we set to do a pair of GS clones: I'd do the C5, since I already had a C5 Z06 in progress painted LeMans blue, and he would do the C6. By coincidence, they were both finished last week. So here they are both: 1 picture of each then more pics of both Robert's C6 Grand Sport: Robert used Tamiya paints. My C5 Z06 Grand Sport: I used Cobra Colors paint. I started painting this car almost 2 years ago, and it shows. This paint job is nowhere near any of my most recent efforts. White stripes on both cars are painted, not decals. More pics of Robert's C6 More pics of my C5 Z06 GS Sorry for the big amount of pics Thanks,
BIGTRUCK Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 The "OFFICIAL" pics are in and the crowd goes nuts.....they both look great..my hats off to both Ismael and Robert..
gowjobs Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 When you said, "Gran Sport," I thought you meant flares, clear headlight covers, roll cages, Halibrand wheels and lots of vents and scoops. Beautiful builds, but I can't get all overwrought about a couple of red stripes on the front fender. "Not a Corvette Guy"
Zoom Zoom Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I'd like to join in the GS tribute, but for some reason this board isn't working correctly for me to post a picture. Every time I try to post my picture, it comes out as a link, with the closing tags as part of the link. Something is wrong. I've never had trouble before posting pictures here. I hope someone can figure it out! I'm using the "img" as normal, copying my photo's url, and then using "close tags" as usual. And the link you see above is what's happening. Strange. If I add an extra space at the end of my photo URL, at least there's a working link. But that's not what I want, I want the photo to show up here. As it has done countless times before. Something wrong w/this picture?? All fixed! - Jairus
ismaelg Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 Bob, Let's see if it works from here: If it works, we should see your wonderful GS Tahoe.... Thanks,
Zoom Zoom Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I honestly have no idea why I couldn't get it to link before, it was adding a space at the beginning and when I manually removed the space there was no link at all, just the code. It was doing it again when I was replying here, then it worked...hmmm. It seems to be okay for me now  :? Thanks for fixing my link, and I think I can show another angle: BTW, I love the C5/C6 GS's 8) . I too was expecting the fire-breathing racers. Having seen a 1:1 C5 Z06 just like Ismael's, it really was cool-and I had to look twice as I thought it was a factory job. Great stuff!
Al Rogers Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Outstanding builds. You Guys have another Vette guy on the forum. Later Al
crispy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Both those vette's are breathtaking. I love the scheme. Bob's truck would look natural hauling them on a trailer. Great job guys! Chris
JAFFA Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Damned fine work on those corvies, that tahoe looks great to
Terry Jessee Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I did this ZO6 several years ago. I just liked the color scheme, but I wanted to extend the red stripe to the center of the hood. Terry
AceofBass Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Awesome! Thank you for putting the red stripes only on one side, the way its supposed to be! I've seen too many on the Barrett-Jackson/Mecum auctions that have them on both sides.
jeff ewaskey Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Sweet looking Gran Sport tributes. Well done paint on them all. You can add me in as another "Corvette" guy. Been a Vette junkie since I was a youngster. Great job guys.
Peter Lombardo Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Since you’re talking Corvette Grand Sports, I thought I would throw in mine. The Blue and White #2 was completed many years ago when the kit first was released, the Dark Blue Penske Roadster was converted from a coupe kit about 8 years ago using Fred Caddy decalsand the Light Metallic Blue and White #2 was completed about a month ago. This being the cover car on the Mar/Apr 2011 “Vintage Motorsports” served as my inspiration to complete it.
Danno Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Gorgeous one and all! Keep 'em coming. We can never have too many 'Vettes on the board and the Grand Sports are the most interesting and unique of all the production cars IMHO.
Eshaver Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hey, I liked everyones work ----------------------------! SO THERE! Ed Shaver
