Randy Kern Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 I just finished this curbside for the Toledo show. This is Jimmy Flintstone's Nomad body for the new Camaro, with a PSF Hobbies hood and chin spoiler. Paint is Dupli-Color Arcadia Green and Silver. As a lower cost alternative, I decided to try the latest Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss on it to see how it performed, and it sprayed on and polished out beautifully. The wheels were given a shot of dull-cote. I also made cargo area bed sides, using embossing powder for carpet. I didn't like the grille grid, so I put a piece of plastic mesh over it for a different look. Here's another wagon I'd love to have in my garage! Thanks for looking.
cruz Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hey, what's up with you and the Station Wagons lately??? Well, they look cool and this one is just sweet!!! How did you like the Krylon Crystal Clear, I have 2 cans of that thing and heard that it's a nice clear to use. Did you shoot it straight out of the can? Does it polish good???
Daniel Peterson Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I really don't care much for the new Camaro, but you did an outstanding job on this phantom! It's brilliantly executed!
Lownslow Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 i got that same body just havent gotten to it yet
outlaw035 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 randy...luv the new camaro...luv ur nomaro...grt8 choice of color....was wondering about crystal clear ggod to hear it works,....neal
Albert Moore Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Hi Randy, That is an excellent whiffer! The color combo looks great and I really dig the aggressive look of the front end and hood. Sweet job! Cheers, Albert
janositamas Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Man, that's what I call a fantastic build! You show us real craftmanship, good imagination and fantastic execution! The body color is also great, I'm out of words, congrats man!
Guest arni Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 That is a very nice wagon,or estate car as we call them here LOL
george 53 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Yeesh Ran, that looks TONS better than a stock Camaro! Jus don't care for the look of the new "Retro" Camaro, but your lil wagon does it for me, I LIKESES it ALOT!!!
Lyle Willits Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Wow. You are the wagonmaster! I wanna see this one in Toledo.
Randy Kern Posted September 21, 2009 Author Posted September 21, 2009 Thanks for the kind words, guys. This was a fun, fairly quick build. I thought I'd go with Lyle's idea of this being the year of resin builds. After all, he is a trend setter! As far as wagon master, only if I would have done Steve Milberry's '58 Pontiac Safari, or Bob Downie's Magnissimo. Both over the top! Hey, I'm excited about my first trip to Toledo, and putting some faces to the names, and especially hoping that George 53 character is there!
george 53 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Randy, you can bet yer booties I'll be there! After LAST year, I decided I won't miss another one as long as I'm or it's here! The guys usually have MCM name stickers so we can find each other, so I'll be lookin for ya Bro!!!
Sixties Sam Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Randy, that is beautiful! I thought your 65 Chevy wagon was the best wagon model I ever saw, but now I can't decide! Sam
MrObsessive Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 How'd I miss this one?? Absolutely beautiful Randy!!
charlie8575 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Send pictures of this to General Motors. They seriously need to build that, and I'll be first in line with a deposit! Charlie Larkin
blubaja Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Looks great! Very clean. Nothing against your build, but i never liked how, whoever mastered this body, had done the rear windows. They just didn't fit with the rest of the design of the body. I like what you have done with the treatment to the front. Keep up the excellent work!
ismaelg Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Cool! Love the chin spoiler. Where is that from? scratchbuilt?
robertw Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Very nice. I picket up this resin kit as well but set it aside when I realized that creating a rear window was going to be a tough job. How did you do it or did you not bother, it's hard to tell from your photos? Rob W
Raul_Perez Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I agree with Lyle...you are the wagonmaster!! Another GREAT build!! You need to bring some of this stuff out for the NNL West in February!! Later,
Bernard Kron Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Really great. The agressive front end treatment was a brilliant idea. Adds a whole extra dimension. I agree, the "new" GM should build this!
Guest Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Dont know how I missed this, Sweet! reminds me of the Vette wagons Joe Dirnberger of Monticello, MN used to do.
