WORK BENCH SATURDAYS!!

About a year ago, I lost my job of 10 years at a local casino. This forced the sale of my 3rd lifetime major collection. So, as with all stout-hearted Americans, I rebuild, again.

It'll be a slow, small restart, but I'm doing it with STYLE !! Here's some pics of my work area. You'll see a sign that reads, "Never put off till tomorrow what you can do day after tomorrow just as well." Sounds like a Yogi-ism (Berra), but it's actually Mark Twain. I use it for reverse psychology to prevent procrastination. At least, I was going to but I had something else to do. The Batman logo is a laser cut out for an incomplete project and a plaque for a bowling score of 290. Spared in the first frame, never missed after that. Never did get a 300. Sigh.

There's a shot of what's left of my Sci-Fi collection in the next pair of pics. The quad nacelled Klingon Dreadnaught is almost 30 years old. The Enterprise looking 4 engined ship took an award at Wonderfest in Louisville, KY a few years ago.

Anyway, that's my digs. Enjoy.

Got these two going if my eyes hold out!

trying to paint the window trim and other small detail.

Built these pretty much straight out of the box and boy were those old decals a pain!

  • 2 weeks later...

On my bench as of right now,I have an original AMT 1969 El Camino restore job, It's painted Glacier Blue , It will have a parchment and black interior, And the Malibu style flat hood, My last one I had, All of the SS 396 emblems were sanded off ,and the entire back window area had to be rebuilt from scratch, I'll post some photos of it soon.

Wow, some serious work areas here. My corner of sanity, kits, mags, and supplies to the left, reference / computer area, and paint booth to the right, business in the middle. Another cool thread...

Later, Dave

I know it's not Saturday at the moment (Monday here), but this is a start...pics soon!

I've got a few that I have started as well as the volksrod, '32 lo-boy (see I've learn't :D ), '32 woody ute, and several others. No pics yet, but will post some when I do get my bench built....I'm using the dining table at the moment, so we all know what that means....unpack, pack up over and over!

You guys are building some nice kits and have some great benches, hopefully mine turn out well.

I didn'd do a lot yesterday, but, for me it was, since I hadn't do an airbrush work from last April prior to the GSL Contest. I just worked with the body of the Tamiya Lamborghini Countach.LP500S.

This is my hobby space, nothing fancy:

A dry fit forthe body components:

After some white primer, I sanded out the mold lines on the body, then some putty to fix everything up.

Here I did a Scalefinished paint job for the first time ever and it was on this body. By the way, great paint! I also airbrushed some gloss black paint to the muffler tips and the wheels before an AlclaII coat. I was prettty impressed by how this paint performed since it's enamel and there's a lot of detail on this exotic body. The deflection of the inside of the dehydrator can be seen on the hood:
