Fuel Coupe Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 yeah I saw that after my last post.Anyway thia thing is turning out FANTASTIC!!!Beautiful man.The linkage and induction sys top it off.Im hoping mine turns out so well. Were do you find carb linkage and stuff? Are you building the Hollish car too? I would love to see it. I make alot of my linkage and some of whats on this car is made and some came from the same company that offers the front wheels...
Pete1980 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 No I saw this car and thought it would be a sweet build but dont really have the experience for somthing like that. But I am building a 66 gasser chevelle. Its Revelle kit but I modified all the suspension, and used a dragster motor.Hopin itll turn out, its my first for a lot of stuff.
Fuel Coupe Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Here's a small update. Keeping with the "smallest amount of aftermarket parts as possible" I opted to sweat together (plumbers term) a set of fuel fittings. I cut down a moon tank to better replicate to 1:1 It looks like I'll need to work on the drag link to correct the bump steer
Speedster Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Wow - don't know what else there is to say but Wow

Fuel Coupe Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) This is the last update you'll see in the workbench page. I still have a ways to go so be looking for it under the drag car page or completed page.. Edited February 9, 2010 by TxRat
Foxer Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Been watching every step of the way. Awesome build, Shane. It came out looking fantastic!

Car Crazy 81 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Shane- Nice work on the Bantam. The Flying Tigers are having a model contest on March 27th here in Kenner you ougha enter that one.
Dragline Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 This is truly one of the most unique Drag cars I have ever seen and an outstanding replica. Shane, you are doing it TOTAL justice buddy. The look and the whole vibe is all right there. Weathering it a bit???? I remember you saying you were gonna and some "been run" grime. Cannot wait to see it finished. Bob
Fuel Coupe Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Bob I have done some light weathering around the blower and where the heads and pan meet the block. Its really hard to see in the pics....
torinobradley Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 How did you end up doing the galvanized metal chain cover and can we get a closeup of that? Awesome job, BTW...
Yekoms Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Great build... It was good to see it on the HAMB also...Smokey
Eric Stone Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 How did you end up doing the galvanized metal chain cover and can we get a closeup of that? Awesome job, BTW... I was wondering the same thing!
Fuel Coupe Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 Thanks again guys. On the chain cover I basically shot Alclad magnesium with a bit of aluminum, once dry I thinned down some humbrol flat white extremely thin.I used a stiff brush and "flicked" the bristles from about 10 inches away. Not completely accurate but I think it will work. I'll post pics when car is completed...
iBorg Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Shane: A couple of questions, (I looked but didn't see them in your WIP) where did the motor and rear-end come from? Thanks, Mike
