noname Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I wanted to do something with a build I did years ago and wasn't all that great. So I decided to stick strictly to pastels and acrylics. No extra detail. Just messing around.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Great job on the rust and weathering. It looks very realistic. When I saw the first pic I thought it was a real car.
David G. Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Wow! You really nailed the rust-bucket look. I remember seeing more that a few cars like this driving... yes driving... around N.E. Ohio where I grew up. Haven't seen so many since I moved to Phoenix, though. Very impressive!
Foxer Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Very realistic job. The rust looks as it should and in all the right places.
vizio93 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Nice job on the weathering man, but those door handles are waaay to clean :D
kyledr330 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Great weathering job, very realistic looking.
David G. Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Nice job on the weathering man, but those door handles are waaay to clean :D That's how you know it's a daily driver!
vizio93 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That's how you know it's a daily driver! :D
crispy Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That's fantastic! Looks like some of the cars I've seen here in MN. Weathering, an art unto itself! Chris
MrObsessive Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That is some VERY realistic looking rust! Looks a LOT like Mopar's late '50's cars I used to see rusted up like that as a kid in the late '60's! They were well known to start rusting even before folks were finished payin' for 'em!
Reeves Racing Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Wow!!! That is soooooo cool. It looks so much like my Dad's Biscayne that we are racing. We plan on painting it this winter though....
Chuck Most Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That's one of the most realistic weathering jobs I have EVER seen! Kind of reminds me of the '62 Biscayne I parted out a couple of years ago, only your '63 doesn't look nearly as gross!
noname Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks very much for all the kind comments guys. If you have an old glue bomb you want to do something with but don't want to restore , anybody can do the same. Other than all that rust I didn't do much to the rest of the car. Gave it to my cousin who spent a day recently helping me with my computer and he seems quite pleased with it. I think everyone should have at least one old half rotten car on their shelf. Don't you?
Harold Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 That is one kick @## job of weathering. It looks like it spent it's entire life in Flint.
Lyn Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 now that is awesome! looks like the car sitting in my brothers garage waiting to be rebuilt.
Brian Fishburn Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 The best beater models are the ones where the builder has taken the time to find out how the real things rusted and duplicated that in the build. Clearly, you have done that, and it paid off big time in the finished results!
