Railfreak78 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hey Blake thanks for the complements I am really glad you like it. I am having WAY to much fun doing this.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Man, these builds just keep getting better and better! Way to go! The details and the colors are out of sight!!!
wgflatliner Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 well once i get the mazda, mustang, and depth charger done, then i'll be going gung ho on this build. not to worry though, the depth charger will be done by the end of this week, and the mustang will be getting finished soon thereafter. The mazda might take the longest, but i can build this car while there might be parts drying on the mazda. i'm going to be taking some hands on rusting classes to work over the body of the car and give it some added depth. i do have some ideas and hopefully execute them well enough to be a show stopper. i'm starting to get anxious now that i'm thinking about it.
Railfreak78 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Mark glad to see you getting that itchy finger buddy! Can't wait to see you open up the plastic trees and have that magic light bulb strike an idea for us to see. Sorry if i seem carried away. I did the plow on mine then ripped it off to make the new one. Then just stared at my porch for 3 hours almost till the bulb said hey stupid do this !!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Lots of firepower, that's how we likes them!!! Great job. More, folks, more . . . the caravan is filling up the ranks nicely. You gotta add your own to it!!!
Jantrix Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I dragged out the SSR kit today which henceforth will be dubbed "the SRRVIVOR." After a post on an SSR fansite I've learn that more of this beast is steel than I thought. Only the front/rear bumpers and the rockers are plastic, the rest is steel. Surprisingly the top is steel. After robbing the kit of all the cool pieces for a rainy day, I hit the pasts boxes for an engine and some more appropriate wheels/tires. I'm looking forward to this. Gonna be cool.
Railfreak78 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 ok guys... My life changed as of Jan 20 something 2010. Never in my life did I think I could build something like this. This thread is so fun I got lost and carried away more than I ever thought possible. Before I actually show her "done" I want you all to see the set up I did as a stupid thought that turned into what I made.
Railfreak78 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Now I present my truck as I call it done minus the dull coat tomorrow. I hope you all have enjoyed this as much as I have building it. Any questions as how I made anything or what kit did that come from are welcome. I used parts from so many junk kits on this and I hope people can use it to learn to not be afraid to jump into any idea. so...: http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/ab330/railfreak78/Tank%20Truck/driversidedone.jpg[/img
Railfreak78 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 More pics...... and off to the zombie car....
Dr. Cranky Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 That thing is full of weapons, plenty for everyone. I love it!
WickedWelder Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 That came out sick man, I love the look. I even went to Hobby Lobby today and found the weapons kit that you used, Im just waiting on some junkyard Dodge kits from Ebay to get here and then I will try my hand at one of these builds. If mine comes out half as good as yours Ill be happy. and again, I love the way it came out, I really like the mortar launcher on the hood....sweet. Cant wait to see what you do with the zombie ride. Take it easy Gary
Jantrix Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Looks fantastic. I had the same feeling when I finished my gunslinger. You'll be hooked now, just like the rest of us.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Come on, folks, we need more killer vehicles in this caravan!
cobra98 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 WOW!!!All of you guys have built some great looking rigs!!!Good job fellas
Railfreak78 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Not much guys but I did get started on the Zombie car......
tuffone20 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I had some fun with a photo I took of Brian's truck. Check it out here.. http://www.moonlightmodelers.com/testone.html
David G. Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Here's a bit of progress for tonight . . . thanks for tuning into the ###### Cranky's Workshop . . . Wow, this is an extreme closeup of the engine . . . but it shows all the Gizmology at work . . . . That's some excellent work, Cranky. I someday hope to be able to do work like yours. I would like to know where you got the "nuke" decals. I've been searching for a couple to use on my Chevy Proton and just haven't had much luck. Any leads you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks, David G.
Railfreak78 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 I was going to wait till a bit later to post progress but the Nationwide race is on so I'll post this morning's progress.. I forgot to put blood on the plow on the suburban so I did that and dull coated the truck. I have painted the Zombie car but it's drying. I have made the Inside kinda cool. I want to look burned so I made a wire seat frame like real so I can weather it per the blast with some texture for ash and other debris..... I'll post more later... Enjoy..
Railfreak78 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Ok here we go with the zombie car or one that can be used as one of ours that did not make it. Its been shot a ton, stripped of all but a few things, burnt and in general left for dead. Again my salt try did not work. It tried too but this time I took the paint off as the truck would not let go of the salt lol. So I did it my way. The rust on the truck (model master) photographed just as red as the blood. On this car I toned it down...
