Farmboy Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) this is my version of a 49 merc. It's AMT's edition, but it looks like Revell's custom made it old news. Anyway, here's my custom; homegrown, chopped, frenched and smoothed. The grille is from a '50 chev pickup cut to fit, whitewalls are from the Lindbergh 53 Victoria kit. I decided to keep the flathead. Enjoy, thanx for stopping by. Mike. Edited January 29, 2010 by Farmboy
Modlbldr Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Nice Merc. I like the grille work. What Lindberg Kaiser kit are the wheels from? Is this a typo? I didn't know there was a Kaiser kit out there. If so, I need info on it. Please PM me if such a kit exists. Thanks. Later-
Farmboy Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 my apologies, The whitewalls came from the Lindbergh 53 victoria kit. sorry 'bout that. I was thinking about another project.
Farmboy Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 thanx much. its nail polish. The bottle says N.Y.C. but doesn't give the color a name.
karbuildr Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 This build is hardly old news. Very nicely done, nice chop, great color choice. I did this one many years ago from the old AMT kit, but I wasn't brave enough to attempt a top chop.
bobss396 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I like it, came out great. I still build an AMT Merc once in a while, like a blank canvas for whatever you want to do. Bob
ajulia Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Hello there friend! I enjoy these kits very much! This one is a knock out.. real cool ride fella! Keep on wit the keepin on!! Paz
David G. Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 That's a good clean build. Maybe someday I'll have the courage and patience to chop a top. I also love the Western Smoothies, For years I've been looking for a set of those for my 1:1 '71 Delta 88.
rustybill1960 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 nice clean build there dude i like it real smooth like the engine wiring too! thank you for sharing later man
Farmboy Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 Thanx for the kind words everybody. I agree the AMT kit is a fun build despite the custom Revell version doing all the chop work and stuff. I have two more of the kit. I think I may attempt one with the extended hood and custom nose piece from the 50 ford, or try to work an angled quad headlight piece on there.
Joe Handley Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Looks good, and I like the way the Chevy truck grill fits too!
RodBurNeR Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 nice job! I thought that grille would look good in a '49 Ford...I tried it, but wasn't "feeling it"...but it looks great in your Merc!
