There is a big snow storm hitting us soon in the East Coast, what are you guys doing in the meantime? I know I will be trying to finish some stuff since I will be stuck indoors for quite a while!! :)

Yeah, we got hit hard last week. My mom called from Baltimore and lamented that they were going to get the storm as mostly rain rather than snow. This storm that is about to hit you gave us freezing fog and rain. I hear you guys are gonna get 15-30 inches of the stuff in some places. I need to call my mom and tell her not to wish too hard...

NO SNOW!! Cloudy this morning and heavy rain coming in this afternoon along with colder temps. A high of only 58 Sunday and down to 33 at night. Looks like the storm is coming straight down from the north. Maybe we can get our Canadian builders to keep their cold weather up there.

No snow forcast here in northern New England, a good thing since it is probably impossible to use my snowblower with a broken ankle. :)

Know what you mean George, about 3 years ago I got tired of walking behind the snow blower, so I went out and bought me a John Deere lawn tractor. Got a snowblower attachment for it, its 44 inches wide with 21 hsp behind it. That mother will throw some snow, heck I can do my driveway and put snow on the roof of the house across the street. Course its paying for it self, I have got 14 driveways here in the neighborhood that I do at 15.00 a wack. We also have very clean sidewalks around here, one pass and the sidewalks are done.

I hear where you're at Jeff & George. One of the happiest days of my life was when I sold my huge 2 stage snow blower to a biker friend. I felt so good I threw in a couple of snow shovels, ice chopper, a bag or 2 of melting salt - and I moved to Florida.

Are you kidding me? HARD? We have had 2.5 feet for the last two months and it's snowing again since lastnight. We have almost 5more inches as of this morning! Now, the snow actually compacted in the last couple of weeks due to the freezing rain we had on top of it lol...I can't wait until this all goes away! You guys not used to the snow and driving in it....just stay in and be safe! B)

Just a cold, cold rain here. Had some slight travel issues last weekend when I had to turn around on a trip to N. GA because of snow/bad roads, but by Sat. morning it warmed up, roads melted, so I made it. Snow shovels? Snow blowers? Huh? That's what the sun is for B)

I'm seeing very light snow as of 10am in Bowie, MD. It does seem kind of crazy what with the grocery stores and cancellations, not having seen the first snowflake up until now. I went into work today without checking my email, and the office was closed. I really need a Blackberry B) .

We have had more snow here in the last month (around 18 inches) than in the last three years, and this storm is supposed to double it. Thankfully the snow pretty much clears out around here between storms. This snow will be new, and not on top of an existing foot.

You know what's funny? I remember it being like this when I was a kid. We were spoiled with a lot of mild winters over the last many years and now that we get hit "hard"....everyone thinks it's global warming hah! Maybe it is?...just doesn't make much sense considering the past....I know some of you have seen history when places got 10feet of snow back in the early 1900's....was it global warming back then too? B)

I live in South Stafford and will bet you are a member of Midnight Modelers I will be working ona few for a show and contest in March in Roanoke hopes to finish them and anouther truck before hand . on the 4 footer thinking that wasin the 78- 79 snow storm

the 4ft snow we had could've been in '78-79 maybe. somewhere i have pictures of my dads new LTD buried with just the roof sticking out.

Dave

1977-78 and 1978-79 were some of the nastiest, snowiest winters I can ever remember here in the northeast in my 48 years on this planet! I've never seen so much snow as I had then.

IIRC, I swear the snow had a strict schedule especially in the '77-'78 winter. During February-March '78, it literally snowed every Tuesday and Friday for something like over a month straight!

.............And not some little nuisance 4-5" snowfall------these were 1 and 2 footers to boot! B)

Winter 1993 and 1996 might be in the running for a close second and third. We got hit here in Central PA by the blizzard of March '93. Then there was the terrific January 1996 storm that made so much ice after the storm--------------the resulting warmer weather caused an ice jam that took out the west shore span of the "Walnut Street" bridge.

They never did rebuild it to this day. :)

We had a really bad one here in December '00. The snow started in the afternoon and continued to get worse. By the time I got to work about 5 PM we already had several inches. I drove my cab out to Lennon to pick up a fare, and what should have been a 45 minute run there and back turned into a three hour adventure. I finally got back to the office at about 11 pm. I was going to give the second shift dispatcher a ride home. You should of seen us walking to the car- he with MS and me with a bad leg, trying to walk around in snow that was now up to almost my knees- it was like watching a couple of drunks stumbling around. We couldn't even get out of the lot by this point, so one of the other drivers, the second and third shift dispatchers and myself all camped out in the office until 10 AM. By that point, the maintenance guy had plowed the lot, and the main roads were plowed, so I hopped in my Thunderbird and went home. Flint was closed down for two days over that storm. Yee- ha!

We're getting a break this season which I think is great. I have to drive in it and it's not fun. Especially when the trucks pass you. DOT only plows one side of the freeway when it's snowing hard, all the snow piles up on the right shoulder and you can't see the centerline. Trucks pass on the left usually hanging over the line and force you into the slush on the right. You wanna talk a "deathgrip" on the steering wheel, heck it's a two drink minimum when I get home just to start to unwind. I'm a born and raised California boy transplanted here about 7 years ago....two more years of this and then we move down south to Tennessee. I don't want any part of these winters anymore.

Crown Central looks pretty good, Ed.

Hope all you folks up around Virginia, PA, etc. are good after the blizzard. The Weather Channel was saying 20 - 30 inches of snow for you, power outages, school & business closures, etc. Don't hurt yourself shoveling.
