David G. Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Yeah, I bet he has long hair too I used to, back in the 70's, but at least I have some!
Nick Winter Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I've never used BMF Well that's not true I used it on Rockfords firebird and hated it and have a sheet that I haven't used since the only reason I STOPPED posting my pictures is that My Camera broke and I haven't replaced it, now for all of you going well just replace it, Camera's aren't cheap, So It's like this continue working on my truck and keeping it in order or buy a camera, or Buy a camera or Buy 6 model kits for the same price? But I WILL replace it before this year is out, maybe before this month is gone, I have some money coming to me that A certain Someone borrowed from me.
Crusader101 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't Fuzzy, Wuzzy... Modeling is purely a hobby (at least for me) and while it is interesting to see intricately detailed models which almost perfectly represent factory 1:1 versions, I prefer to see those that are not perfect and represent the modeler's own personal touch. Post some pics, unless you're like me... I just don't know how (George53, I'm in the same boat)....but I can program my VCR.
Junkman Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 ....but I can program my VCR. Errr, what's a VCR?
vizio93 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Errr, what's a VCR? Isn't that like an 8-track player or something ???
Junkman Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Isn't that like an 8-track player or something ??? One can program an 8-Track? What did I miss all my life?
Crusader101 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Errr, what's a VCR? I still have my original Sony Betamax ...but bear in mind, I come from the sliderule/abacus era...a Polaroid camera was hi-tech back then....(even color TV )
Junkman Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I still have my original Sony Betamax ...but bear in mind, I come from the sliderule/abacus era...a Polaroid camera was hi-tech back then....(even color TV ) I was five when we got our first TV, a black and white one - and I don't mean the casing - for watching the lunar landing. So now you know what age I am.
Guest Johnny Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I have only used bare metal foil on a few of my builds. The majority are painted trim and Iam happy with it! I don't post picks much because either I still haven't figured out how to get a clear picture with my digital or it just isn't a good camera! I have to take off my glasses so the picture doen't look so blurry! Never be ashamed of your work or think it is not good enough! Besides the great builders like Ed depend our medeocre builds to make theirs look even better!
Crusader101 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) I was five when we got our first TV, a black and white one - and I don't mean the casing - for watching the lunar landing. So now you know what age I am. The computer that controlled the LEM down to the surface of the moon was less powerful than what we are typing away at in our own homes nowadays. And to think that just two nights ago, I was watching the second human to set foot on another planet (Buzz Aldrin) dancing on the cheesy "Dancing With the Stars" in hi-def on a 63" LCD TV...who would have thought back in 1969 what is possible today? samdiego Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) I think the Apollo computers were less powerful than what you would find in today's watches. Amazing. I love BMF but will also use a silver sharpie when handier. There is also an Elmer's brand fine point metallic marker that works well. you should try a few photos just to see for yourself. Trust me, what is revealed onscreen can vary quite a bit with angle and lighting. That means if worse comes to worse you can hide a lot. Especially if the subject is something we'd like to see. Eshaver Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Ya know , I wouldda never thunk that a Computer would run an automobile engine either ! Look , Ive worked on the old Volkswagen , the old Volvo and even a couple of Rhochester units in my day . I do wel remember a 57 Chevrolet Bel Air with the Mechanical Fuel injection ! Oh yeah , You fiddled and fought those things . I grew up and watched my own father as he was an employee of I B M . I was there to see one of the first Tape drives being demonstrated in 1958 . Point is Grey , you are allowing yourself to be " Demonized " by a few . FORGET THEM !!!!!! if you won't post a picture of you're work cause you think you will get a bunch of nay sayers well then P- M me and I 'll set em straight ! Ya know how ya get good , ya practice on stuff and don't let the "Nay sayers" beat ya down son ! Ed Shaver

Harry P. Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Then why do you give me such a hard time about not posting pictures Harry!?! Because I like to give you a hard time!
Guest Johnny Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 i dont post my models because i am too lazy Hey!!! An honest man!!!
george 53 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 i dont post my models because i am too lazy Yeesh, And I thought I was the only one!!!!
charlie8575 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Personally, I've always had trouble with foil. I find a 10/0 paintbrush, especially on scripts, is just as effective. George, everyone builds to their happiness, and that includes you. If you don't want to post, that's one thing, but don't let an undeserved sense of not being "good enough" stop you. Everyone has their way, and I think it's safe to say we're all accepting of that. Charlie Larkin
mountaindewd Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Gray, Where'd ya go? You don't post pics because you feel they're not worthy? The model in this link wasn't built by a member here, but, look at the positive remarks it got. Posting your pics won't just get positive criticism or helpful advice for issues you are having with something, but may also give someone else inspiration or an idea he never thought of. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29419
