The answer is yes if you already didn't know :D

I never intended to build the Revell Magnum OOB; I'm not in love w/the truck-like Magnum front end (which Dodge is fixing for '08 very nicely) and my kit was missing one headlight bezel (but hey, it had three taillight bezels  ). I was going to do a front-clip conversion w/a Chrysler 300 to do a 300C SRT-8 Touring that the Europeans get (but we don't  ). The AMT front clip is too wide for an easy conversion, so I set out to find another idea. Then this hit me as I have an extra Skyline. The parts fit pretty well w/o major modification. They're both high-performance beasts. So let the party begin.

New front clip already added. I'm also going to use the Skyline aero bits, taillights, wheels, RHD dash and front seats. Paint will be silver w/Nismo stripes, black wheels. I'm almost surprised that it hasn't touched off WWIII on Automotive Forums where Skylines are treated like the crown jewels ;) The SRT-8 Hemi gets the respect it deserves worldwide  I would give my left ventricle  to own/drive one of these in 1:1.

Wow! I like that Bob!! 8)

I do feel an earthquake comin' from AF..............they are probably poundin' their keyboards now!

I can't believe I've only gotten one negative comment about it so far on A/F, and that's from a Magnum fan who likes the Magnum look better. Heck, I'm almost upset

My Magnum kit wheels/tires are being donated to my Revell Uptown (with those giant rims they ought to be called "Upclown" ) Charger SRT-8.

That's very nice Bob!

I actually thought of the idea of putting a Concept Camaro front clip to a Magnum. A Mustang front clip would also work, but hey, I'm a Chevy guy

Cleaner and meaner! I love it, Bob! I also don't like the current nose, and putting a Bugeye Sprite clip on would make it too cheerful. :P You can almost see some sharp pointy teeth in the grille!

cool idea..its builds like these that i like to see...very out of the box thinking on this one. I was always a fan of the coverted Nissan Stageas with r34 front ends on them, and this reminds me alot of them. I look forward to seeing more of this, keep it up

Thanks

Count me OUT on this one. Blasphemy I tell you... I love ma mopar way too much to like that.

Sorry,

James

:P

No problemo; I'll figure out the Euro-spec 300C SRT-8 Touring conversion and do that too someday. Hopefully Revell's front end (Uptown series 300C SRT-8) will be a better fit than AMT's.

Verrrrrrry clever.

Thats exactly what I was going to say about it!

Nice work, it really does change the look and feel of the car to something a little more pleasing to the eye! I wonder how you're going to smooth some of the transitions (like the leading edge of the wheelwell), but I'm sure you have that figured out already.

yes man that is very cool! i too dont like that heavy front end of the chrysler product but youve made it look great.

ps: to bug eye sprite man...frog eye is what they call them in the land of origin...

As a lover of all things Skyline (AND a moderator over at AF), I give this project my full blessing! I didn't like it at first but I was able to sleep knowing this project is in very good hands. 8) 8) 8)

After a year and a half, I'm back to work on this one :D

Let's just say my friend Brian Venable aka "Veyron" has a terminal case of "Nismosis", and I felt the need to get this one back on track, will look good next to all his NISMO stuff he's built and building currently.

Last I left off I had grafted the R34 taillights in place, was a little annoyed how much it looked like a Cobalt. Oh well...I got over it. Today I did some more putty work and it's getting close to being able to be in final primer/first coats of paint soon.

This one will be silver, w/NISMO stripes, black wheels, graphite aero bits. RHD R34 dash and front seats. Executive decision was to quit worrying over the engine, I'm gluing the hood shut :D Then I'll have a nice SRT-8 motor for something else.

:D Bob, you put a 1/24th front end on a 1/25th car? it sure came together pretty well. I'm not real big on Jap cars, but this hybred seems to be comin together pretty cool. It'll be somthin to see when it's done,SO GET IT DONE! I WANNA SEE IT!!!!! :D:blink::lol::D:P

Nice work, is the back hatch gonna open?

Thanks; the hatch is glued shut, had to ditch that gimmick to properly fit the taillights from the Skyline. The kit hatch hinges aren't accurate w/o a bit of fiddly re-work (Mr. Obsessive knows what I'm talking about; he fixed it right!); no reason for an opening hatch if it's got a glued-down hood as well.

Yep; the Skyline is a smaller car than the Magnum, so the scale difference actually helped. I'm hoping to get it done fairly soon now that I'm back on track! The body looks even better now that in my photos; it's had another stage of sanding/priming and it's almost ready for an overall primer coat. I get a lot more excited about a build when I get to that point ;)
