I want to rant and rave about the loss of the Rants and Raves section.

Where can I post that?

:D

Harry, go to your room.....

I complained as loudly as anyone about the trolls and flamers who have infested this site for a while, but I must admit that I miss the R&R section. Seemed like a place to go with the sort of comments, many of them sincere, that can sour other threads; it offered many caveats about companies and people one wouldn't want to deal with, which I and many others considered more interesting than the Rave parts. I found it, quite often, to be entertaining – sometimes as a laboratory exercise in pathological, abnormal behavior.

Anyway, as stated above, areas like General and New Kits can absorb some of the more constructive rants & raves. Emphasis on constructive.

Skip, R & R reminds me of you're average daily newspaper with an editorial page . The editors , not the reporters mouth off about their slanted views of the world . Same here at Model Cars . personaly , I think Harry an Greg are shooting them selves in the back by deleteing this part of the forum . The bad guys who were putting up fodder for a few will show else where even by nefarious means if nessesary. I know this cause first, I write freelance for some 1-1 automobile periodicals and I own a NON- Modeling forum too. Ed Shaver

Yeah, that was kind of a subtext to what I was writing about. (It seems though, that Harry didn't want it removed.) But I totally understand Gregg's point of view, and the fact that there is enough BS on the other topics that make policing R&R exceptionally tough.

Here one day gone the next! thats life right? The way I see it , this is Greggs forum and we arent even renting space from the man. which makes him entitled to do whatever he wants to do with HIS space. Like it or leave it, play by his rules or find another game to play. I hope no one was offened by that comment as it wasnt directed toward anyone in particular.

I also wanted to add that i have seen many people complaine about how this forum is run, and i for one feel this is one of the better forums around and is run exceptionally well. I also have noticed not many people have even bothered to thank Gregg and his moderators for giving us a nice place to show our stuff so I for one would like to take the time to say Thank you Gregg for a job well done. And again I hope no one got offened.

Thanks Gregg!!!!!!!!!

Yes, indeed, this is the best forum on this subject on the Web for which Gregg deserves great credit. I particularly appreciate his comment that the flamers will be banned immediately.

Because Chicago has a $600 million budget deficit and since he can't raise property taxes during tough times and he's already tried to raise money by privatizing some city services and is still hundreds of millions of dollars short and he can't figure out how to close the budget gap, because gangs completely rule the south and west sides and there are 40-50 shootings on a typical weekend and no end in sight, because his approval rating is at an all-time low and he probably wouldn't get re-elected anyway, because his power as the King of Chicago is being taken away (for example, the Supreme Court just struck down his handgun ban as unconstitutional and some of the aldermen are finally standing up to him and not always rubber-stamping every loony idea he throws out there), because his administration is probably the most corrupt administration in all of Illinois (and that's saying something!!!) and the people are slowly but surely getting fed up with all the corruption, because he's getting old (68, I think), and because his wife has terminal cancer. Just a few reasons.

Did you get that I'm not his biggest fan?

Ooops, how did politics get back in here? B)

:) I made that comment tongue in cheek but you are 100% on spot! He definitely isn't his daddy! He would never have let thing get that out of hand! Maybe the rest of the state can get a few things taken care of now!

That goes in Rants and Raves section...hold it...... oh,never mind!

Seriously though, I loved Rants and Raves. I had more fun there than I can say. Who remembers the great Reliable Resin flame war of '07? It was epic! Good times.....good times. ;) I will miss it.

I'm with you, Andy. R&R was my "guilty pleasure" here... ;)

wow did i continually miss something or is there an increasingly thin skin appearing somewhere?

i never saw anything in that section that would cause it to be canned. was i just (un)lucky or what? was constant vigilance necessary to keep offending posts from appearing? because i dont remember even one discussion getting too out of line. maybe i just missed them?

now in this "general" section, that might be a different matter. maybe that category should be axed as well.

I will miss it. Yes, there was drama and drama queens, but they and their posts can be deleted. I thought there was more good discussion and opinions than the bad. Oh well.

I think it is predominantly the latter. Not always, but predominantly. However, apparently a few things went way overboard, i.e. threatening people is just the lowest of the low. Not that anyone could possibly threaten me, but evidently others are more easily intimidateable. Be it as it may, even the attempt to threaten somebody is unacceptable, hence I find the consequences justified.

Don't forget that Oprah has bailed on the city too. Where's Omni Consumer Products when you need them?
