parki Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Killer build!! this is looking awsome, can't fault it. Looking forward to seeing this badboy finished
Draggon Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 What a fantastic looking Monza. This is just plain bad! As far as the color, I like red!
miatamadman Posted December 10, 2010 Author Posted December 10, 2010 Getting down to the final body work, then on to paint booth. Hood vents are now OPEN! The rear end is getting a little modification as well by blending the bodywork around the mufflers.
whale392 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Very sexy. Bodywork like that just begs for a paintjod to accentuate its' angular form. Something dark and sinister (Blood Red Pearl, Anthracite/Black Pearl) with the wheel faces done up in Slate Gray sounds nice. Awesome Monza.
miatamadman Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Wow! Found my thread on page 10 appears as if though I've been slacking. This project has been stalled since I wasn't quite sure how to paint it....but I now have good idea as to what I'm going to do. Colors will a little bit of red, some white and a lot of blue with the graphics being a slight twist on a production car graphic....Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder what it could be......
Danno Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Looking so good, Zoli! Color? Your choices sound good, although I was going to recommend ... fire engine red. There. I said it.
Boreham Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 brilliant.. Love the WIP diorama pic's... makes it look so real.. excellent scratch building..
Foxer Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Somehow I missed the start of this build, and what a build it is! Fantastic work and it feels like it going on in a 1:1 shop!
miatamadman Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Today I took a large step backwards with this build. The paint job got screwed up so it's off to the stripper.
Tony T Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Wicked build! Hope you can get some paint on this successfully (I hate when the paint doesn't work out! I had that recently happen on a build, too).
miatamadman Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 Finally, the second time around, we've got a paint job! I ended up going with different colors than I originally planned on. I've got a little bit of touch up to do before the clear goes on.
miatamadman Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 Paint is all dupli-color products. Now on to the interior assembly and detailing.
miatamadman Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 I actually painted this in reverse. I first shot the silver, masked off the stripes, shot the green then the red. I was going cross eyed while masking those stripes and trying to keep everything straight. I also found out, while masking the stripes, that the louvers on the hood are not exactly centered on the hood.
Jantrix Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 WHoa! That is looking fantastic. Great paint work.
RodneyBad Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hot Dang, that looks Too Awesome for words.. Droooooool Honestly, I Love it!!!! (see that?? Quoted only 1 pic not the whole thread. )
Jantrix Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (see that?? Quoted only 1 pic not the whole thread. ) Yer awesome Rodney. Maybe we aughta do a tutorial to teach people how to do that?
Cody Martin Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 That's awesome, the whole build, the pictures, the workshop it's siting in everything! Great build!! -Cody
george 53 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Zoli, I'm so used to your Fire Trucks, I OFTEN wondered what you could do with a car. I've seen a few of your auto builds, but THIS rascal TAKES the cake! I have that old Revell kit, and a few AMT Monzas, but MINE DON'T look like THAT!!! EXCELLENT JOB, my freind!!!!
miatamadman Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Today I layed down the clear coat. Man those colors really POP now!
